Pedal springs are a bit too strong for the throttle, i ordered a different one, and hopefully it will arrive in time... else i'm gonna have a tough time applying full throttle.... Pull or compression springs? Springs become softer if you shorten 'em, but I figure it could be difficult to reattach a pull string after removing a coil or two... Compression.. i'll see if i can remove a couple of coils.. but the the thing is that it flares out at the end, so it would stay in place better.. I had a response from TM.. and they proposed a couple of replacement springs... but the response time between mails are very slow...

Sorry guys.. can't race... various things are happening around me at the moment...
From the pedal springs delivery being this weekend... to my dad going off and on to the hospital for an unknown illness that plagues him... and the doctors can't seem to find the cure or what ails him...
I could be racing one moment and the next i'm called upon to bring him to the hospital...
And that grates on my nerves...

After taking out my team mate, I grab the next cab right to the airport without returning to the pits. I ain't gonna have a discussion with Erich...
Else, well, it was typical German GP scorching sun weather and I wasn't really into it, having two botched Q attempts that put me in 21st position. Start was okay and the first laps quite eventful (Seriously, is that a new thing or just me being to nice? Overtaking under yellow?? 3 Instances within two races!), then things sorted themselves relatively quickly out and I had some decent laps, but then had a lapse entering the Motodrom (shifted just two instead of three gears down) and the car ran uncontrallably into the wall. A five minute repair... Well, the next car just two minutes ahead, so I got the car rolling again, and Bruno's Arrows wasn't ideally shaped for that track, too, so I could lap myself back without to much effort, still nearly two laps on him, but then, either my eyesight played a trick or it was just bad luck, but I clipped the lefthand tire barrier, even though I thought there was enough space (do physical and visual model really match up? looked also odd in replay), and couldn't escape quick enough to be out of the other people's way, and of course it was Brian Janik who got the short match and ran into me. Double DNF for Team Zakspeed... I'm really sorry for that.
Bit of an odd one getting used to that car, with its really narrow power band. On "Can make the distance"-boost, if speed dropped under 250 kph in sixth, that darn thing just wouldn't accelerate, which can quickly happen when in traffic. Overall, its just ... a rough ride, with a very small window where it works. What a difference to the Williams with oodles of power over the whole band and is nimble and responsive. But well, I guess there's a reason why Williams won the constructors championship and Zakspeed had 17 DNFs and 2 DNQs in 30 entries...

Somehow finished in the points, got a good setup together with Juha. That's about the positive stuff from this race.
Terribly sorry to Anders, that was a rubbish read that I'll have a hard time letting go from my brain. I feel like a total mongrel at the moment and that is fully deserved.
Congrats to everyone who finished and thank the devil this track is over and done with...

I qualified 10th which was a little bit back from where I was hoping to be. One Q run ruined by a engine blow-up on a slow out lap and another Q run ruined by lag when I turning into turn 1. Race, I made a decent start and by using some boost in the opening laps I was able to move forward to be 6th after 3 laps. On lap 6 I was able to pass Jules for 5th which made me think that he was not going to make a pitstop . Then a little spin at the final corner dropped me back down to 7th, I managed to get back to 5th again which then became 4th after someone dropped back. I also started to think that the 2 BMW engines at the front wouldn't last. After the pitstops had gone through I was back in 4th position just behind Ray and stayed with him for a few laps until he got away from me and didn't want to use any extra boost to catch back up. Then Ray had a off and headed to the pits, up to 3rd for me. Then I slowly caught back up to Jules who didn't want to fight on his 1 stop tyres and I was in 2nd, 18 seconds behind Gabriele. A few laps later and Gabriele's engine let go, 1st place for me, totally unexpected. Then with about 6 laps to go I noticed that my fuel was not going to make it to the end of the race, time to try and save as much as I could. For the last 3 laps I had to turn the boost right down to minimum and that allowed Jules by to take the win by 0.5 seconds. Never a dull moment and a very enjoyable race . Congratulations Jules your strategy payed off. Well done Juha for 3rd. Thanks for the broadcast I'll watch it tomorrow. Edit: I forgot to add that my engine spluttered and ran out of fuel as I crossed the finish line.

What a day… yesterday the chance to drive the Williams Red 5, which I overthought because I knew I wouldn’t be able to be as good as the two current drivers. Kayo needed to release the car, nobody seemed to be requesting it… but as a big fan of the Grove/Didcot team, I needed to give it a try.
And very thankful am I to the ISO admins for allowing me, to Kayo for lending me his car, and to Francisco for racing along in the same team after 18 years. It was such a joy. Besides, I had a personal debt with Hockenheim myself - one race back in December, another place.
Thanks again for trusting me this gorgeous fantastic power-house-of-a-car. It meant a lot to me.
That said, Saturday night 3am (that is Sunday, then) setting up the car, some training on Sunday afternoon, I wasn’t able to close a lap until the official practice. Wings? 2-2 for less drag. I knew I had a setup that would allow me to run so wild, less drag meaning less fuel consumption, in any case I didn’t have the skills to fight for pole so I just wanted to try and finish the race in a good place.
But then during qualifying my FFB went crazy. I couldn’t bring it back while in the server. In, at or on? Anyway, restarted the PC and the wheel, all good for the final 4 minutes… and I spun. No lap. Ok better this way - a one-off with my skills, rather start in the back to not mess up with anybody’s race.
So during the race I enjoyed all the Honda power and turbo variation trying to climb the field, which I had to accomplish before the “stadium”. The first chicane was so so clean and I do have to thank all the ones who were near me there. No contact at all, lots of room to make the turn… kept going. Ostkurve ok. And after some laps I was in 15th pursuing Luciano. Sad that in the meantime I saw my team mate losing positions after an incident, but now I was ahead of him.
Consumption was between 4.1 and 4.3, tyres were great, I was able to shorten the distance on straights and keep it cool at the curves and turns, it was all running great. Then my wife needed help with our baby, and she would only call me if it were really necessary, so I needed to park the car at Vettel’s bend, and leave the server. A bit sad of course, but much much happier for having taken part at the event.
Thanks once again and congratulations to everyone, specially the top-3 drivers. Have a good week y’all!

What a race that was. I was not expecting to win here at all, just because of the speed differential between the Lotus and the McLaren/Brabham. I was not feeling very confident or comfortable just because of the nature of the track (I hate Hockenheim) and it was very humid here today so I wanted to take a nap all afternoon. So yeah, not really in the best mindset for racing but whatever. Qualifying was f***ed though. My first lap was ruined by a faulty Renault engine. It was just down on power, maybe only 75% or 80% of full power, so the top speed was only around 190 mph. I did not realize it though until I saw the lap time despite driving perfectly. In all my testing I never had that issue so it was a surprise. The next lap was a write-off due to an error at the 1st chicane, just due to braking too late. Finally the 3rd lap was good enough and I had no issues with the engine, traffic, or technical. It still was not easy at all though and I almost lost it coming out of the Ostkurve. Started the race with super softs in the front and softs in the rear, with the plan of pitting around lap 22. In my testing, I found that this was the optimal tire choice for the Lotus, as mediums were dangerous for the low-downforce setup (2/3 F/R) and super softs in the rear only lasted half a stint before being an issue. My race start was average but John Thim had an amazing start there. I'm just glad there were no issues at the chicanes. People drove sensibly when passing. I knew my top speed was not good and it seemed like my Renault was even slightly down on power somehow, so I didn't care too much about being passed because I could do nothing. My lap times were slower than expected despite the track temp being in the expected range (~25C). I expected the track temp to rise to at least 30C but that didn't happen. I wasn't planning on doing zero stops but as the race unfolded, it appeared that doing a stop was not the best option (track placement as well as risk to the engine and the risk of a long pit stop). There were a few instances of stutter that caused me to redline the engine...nothing I can do about that besides getting a new computer (nothing to do with graphic settings). Until lap 40 or so, the race was just tire, engine, and fuel management. Near the end of the race I saw David was not pulling away so much after he passed me, so I knew I would be able to use some boost to catch up. The front tires were alright but the rear tires were almost gone and it was very difficult to not spin the car on those old tires and higher boost setting...hence the issues at Ostkurve and the final sector was difficult. Wittmann gave me quite the scare in the stadium section on the last lap but it all worked out. Great racing all. None of the wins so far have been easy and this was probably the most difficult besides Monaco. Congrats to David, Juha, Ray, Jonatan, and especially Giovanni on bringing that Tyrell home in the points. Besides the final sector, I really don't like this track. Now to Hungaroring.

Q: I qualified more or less were expected, i couldn't lap below 1.50 that was my best in practice.
R: Start was good again, got stuck behind a Ferrari and a Williams but the first corner was clean and so the chicanes. Started with supersoft as they were the only tyres happy with my car, i thought that a zero stop strategy could have been the best on this track but even with soft tyres temperatures were very low and wear was almost the same. So i decided to see what the race was preparing for me and take a decision as the race unfolded. The first quarter of the race i was behind both Haas and Richard's Benetton in 11th position following them as close as possible with an eye on the fuel gauge. Cezarius retired and then Anders passed Richard; A couple of mistakes from him got me the chance to close the gap, lap times were almost the same and at first i thought Richard was not going to stop but then he pitted and the right choice at that point was to follow him and stop the next lap.
I rejoined the track right behind the Benetton and some laps later i managed to pass him, enjoied this battle. However Richard was not going to surrender soon and remained behind the exhaust of my Tyrrel, then 5 laps before the chequered flag when i was in 8th, i spun at the Nordkurve and lost the front wing. Limping back to the pits i saw Richard's car on the side of the track and when i rejoined the track i noticed that also Luciano has retired so i was... 6th, points again.
Was a nice race, very strategic and i love this track so enjoied from the first to last lap. Congratulations to the podium, lots of action at the front and to the broadcast team.

Qualifying i couldnt attend because i was on a birthday party so i had to start last.
My race itsself was fine, except for 2 mistakes i made. One was hitting the final corner wall after beaching on the curb, and then in the 3rd chicane later in the race because i had to avoid those not so good placed tire barriers which led me to hit the biggest hitbox of a barrier i have seen which gave me suspension damage.
Then at somepoint during the race i had a screenfreeze and didnt get any blue flags or yellow flags at all after it. Which led to the (Jules and Davids) final lap scare because i didnt notice they were behind me when i entered sachskurve so i had to find a spot to let them through.
The Arrows A9 felt fine on Race trim unlike on quali trim so i was glad i couldnt attend quali...
And i finally finished my first race with actually crossing the line.
Cant wait for Hungary having the old car back.

Great qualifying by my teammate. Just a shame we didn't have the same level of performance in the race.
Race start was okay, eventually settled around the lower end of the top ten and had some great battles, first with Anders and Tim, then just Anders, then Giovanni. Made the race enjoyable but i knew i was going to have to ease off at the end due to fuel. But the good old BMW engine made sure i didn't have to worry about that as it decided to solve my issue by blowing up. Was a shame as i could have possibly sneaked a point at the end but who knows.
Congrats to Jules, David and Juha on the podium. Well done to the rest of the points scorers and finishes.
Lets see what Hungary brings.

I did the run I scheduled to do. Despite the great power, the BMW engine proved to be too fragile for this race and I raced with great care not to reach the red lights and not to exceed 95 degrees of temperature. I had a race without any big mistakes, just a small escape due to loss of traction on the stadium stretch. I had a big scare in the race when Michael crashed in the second ginkana and Janik got in the mix. I was right behind and I was in front of Michael's car. Luckily for me and Michael's competence, he pressed the ESC at just the right moment and I escaped with my underwear all smudged. In the end, I saw John Tim taking the difference quickly and the 10th place escaping me without me being able to do anything, but to my luck and Tim's bad luck, his engine broke right after he overtook me. 10th place was like a victory and a good prize for a safe race with a car that only had a small duel with Simon's Osella. Congratulations to Jules for the good strategy that became victorious. Congratulations to Mr. White for the excellent broadcast of the race.

Well done Jules on winning this one, and David for taking second.
In qualifying I managed to get a slow banker in lap in, then blow an engine, have a duff one on the next attempt and when I finally had the entire package come together with a top 3 on the cards, it blew up in the stadium. 8th on the grid, Jules on row one, I was glad the straights were long enough.
I knew my first gear wasn't great to get off the line so I practised my start. It showed, by heading into the first turn about eight places further back from where I'd started, with Jonatan right behind after an equally dreadful getaway. Great teamwork by Ferrari.
By the end of the first lap I was in 12th, Jules now occupying a spot in the top 3, things didn't look good. Gradually I came back, entering the top 5 by lap 11. Obviously we'd done something right with the set up. I even managed to run ahead of Jules and David. I went for an early stop, Jules kept going, so I expected his tyres to drop off. Instead, he just kept going. Sure, I got closer, but never close enough. My crap start and a half spin didn't help, but I was ahead of Jules in the first quarter of the race so I've only got myself to blame for not keeping that up.
Next up is the Hungaroring. I hate it, but Jonatan likes it so he has two weeks to make the Ferrari the fastest thing out there.

I was almost there.. another 7 laps.. Qualified P7 with a rather high time by my standard, but at Hockenheim the importance of starting from the front is very low indeed. Started well on lap 1 I overtook both Benettons on lap 2 Ray, on lap 4 Jules. I start following my teammate Grant who in the meantime had taken the lead (great job mate!) and John Thim who was following him quite closely. I see him hit the pile of tires and so I reach Grant who perhaps had a less performing engine than mine. He lets me go as soon as I catch up with him and so the ideal strategy has had its effect. Brabham 1-2. But it won't last long... I ride steadily in 1.56s gaining something lap by lap over all the others. Then the first problems: on lap 19 the car doesn't seem to brake and I go very wide into the first corner and into the Clark Chikane. I set the braking more to the front and it seems to work, from lap 20 I go back to 1.55s. Unfortunately Grant retires for engine.. While I see others pitting for the mid-race pit, I go ahead convinced that my 7-4 setup with Supersoft-Soft can hold up for the whole race. Until lap 35 everything seemed to work perfectly. I was progressively decreasing the boost and rebalancing the front with the ARB. Then again problems with the rear brakes. I go straight to Clarke and Ostkurve.. it seemed that the car didn't brake anymore.. I rebalanced much more at the front and contained the problem a bit, but I lost many seconds from the 30s I had ahead. Then the connection lost on lap 38. Too bad, this race I was pampering the engine really well, never a miss shift. In terms of engine, I'm sure I would have finished the race. But I don't know about brakes... Now Hungaroring: a track I love, but our car doesn't love.
