Sorry for being a idiot in the chicane during the race. I didnt want to damage my engine and be even more on the track and drive into someone so i pitted and then decided to reverse but there were cars behind me already.

Decided not to qualify since I had limited time to practice and hence decided to focus on race setup. It was ok to drive and I had pace to run close to Arrows ahead. However I touched Mark early in the race and half spun. Recoverd around 6s and was close to them again. Then Bruno half spun and I went too greedy. As he rejoined the track I touched his rear end and lost my front wing. This touch of impatience so early costed me dearly. Then, I was just driving and waiting to see if some retirements would come. And they did.
More to the middle of the race, I have to apologise to Grant. I wanted to leave inside line but moved out of the way too little too late. He lost his front wing and retired. Really sorry for it, I was moving out of people's way the soonest as possible.
That crash broke my rear suspension. Repairs took 145s and car was never straight again, always pulling to right.
Thank you to another top of the class broadcast!

Race was plagued by my wheel miss aligning. Every once in a while I’ll try and catch a slide and my wheel off centres.. parked up and reconnecting it solves it but a loss of 20-30 seconds. Anyone who’s got ideas to solve please let me know as I’m at a loss! Was making my way up the field and aiming to get back 3rd but a miss communication between me and Santo ended our races.. not your fault mate just happens Wouldn’t mind finishing a race soon though I must admit haha!

What wheel do you have? My old G25 was doing that. First it was the optical disc, and when i replaced it, it solved it. But some years later, it started doing it again, and this time it was something else, probably inside the gears, and that was career over for it, so i hope that's not your case.

I’ve had a few g25’s and my last one did exactly the same too. Changed the optical disc and solved it for me aswell. So I’m guessing this is the same issue. I’m using a g920 currently and going to have a deeper look at this before next race but I think I’m going to have to bite the bullet and upgrade to a DD wheel! Few months back after this happened at Spa I did open it up and try and tighten the disks but to no avail. Setting a FFB reset button could shave a few seconds off re calibrating the wheel so worth doing that also.

Happy that this race Is over, basically zero feeling with the car during the entire race. Starter with the wrong tyres, haven't noticed that temperature was way lower than usual, then after 15 laps started to gradually lose traction. The only choice i had was to go as long as possible but Just before the planned stop i spun, Lost the Wing and bent the left suspension. 30 seconds of stop and with medium and soft on the rears the car was better. However i was basically alone, i did a few hot laps to try stay awake but due to damages as the tyre wear increased car became nasty to drive. From lap 50 i was experiencing ping issues too, i don't know if something happened with David's mclaren when he was lapping me, i kept the outside to let him pass. I'm Sorry if something happened but the only thing i saw was your car moving left and tight. I wanted to retire but then others drivers in front were retiring so i continued. I was 6th, i was planning to pit to change tyres to let others drivers behind lap me without harm but the engine told me was enough.

I really don't like this track, too much stop-start. No real qually pace and I started 13th. The race was tough, very humid here with thunder and lightening going on at about half distance. I got stuck behind the Centorame Tyrrell and it as if I was there for most of the race. I didn't have the straight line speed to get past even using boost on the straight didn't help, it felt as though he was doing the same. I guess that I was running too much wing but that was the only way I could get any speed out of my car. I had a couple of small off's here and there but I was waiting for other engines to fail, and they did, I was up to 4th but them my engine failed with 2 laps to go but I still finished 5th. Congratulation to Richard , Jules and Ray. Well done to anybody who managed to finish. Thanks for the broadcast I will watch it later or tomorrow. Österreichring next and them Renaults will be quick. But it looks as though Richard will be hard to beat.

I'm Sorry if something happened but the only thing i saw was your car moving left and tight. I didn't know where you wanted me to overtake and had to take a lunge up the inside which lead to a lock-up and running up the kerb. No problem but can it be a little easier in this situation.

A difficult race for a variety of reasons. My desktop PC is not functioning after a sudden power outage a few days ago (I'll be getting a UPS soon then...), so all my setups are inaccessible at the moment on it. Luckily I have a backup laptop which I did some testing on earlier this year for the Jerez race, so I had qualy and race setups from that track to work with. I was able to get close to what I had originally with some testing yesterday, but probably not as fast as my other setups.
Qualy was pretty much what I expected. Track temp rose quickly and from then on it was unlikely times would improve much, although Coxon put out a great lap later in the session with 35C track temp.
Had a decent start and was able to pull away from everyone behind. I knew Coxon was too fast and it was pointless to fight, so I just tried to take care of the engine, which somehow translated to 8 liters of fuel left over at the finish. The indoor temp when I started the race was 31C and when the race was over, it was 33C. Too hot for comfort and I was worried the laptop would overheat and shut off.
Happy with the result. Congrats to all finishers in this brutal and grueling race.
Thanks in advance for the broadcast.

This confirm that i was running low on wings, i was not using boost😁😆 and you were way way faster on the chicanes.

Holy Moo of a cow, that was intense! But totally worth, earning myself a point! Not bad for myself being on the verge of quitting three time in the first 30 laps.
I wasn't too keen on racing on that particular track, but then, the Tyrrell became available, and I had some fond memories driving it at Spa and I always had a soft spot for that team with their underdog attitude and its somewhat gnarly team principal. But it wasn't all that easy, I struggled up to the last moment and even into the race to get the car into balance. That darn thing had a terrible penchant for understeer it would never completely lay off, and I probably never had a car as extremely dialed out as this, just to force the car to stay on a line. I fiddled all about the setup during the week, but either the car would just drag its front along the way, or I had the front halfways set, but then the rear end completely lacked grip, especially under acceleration. And time was running out...
...but I had a few ideas in my heas of things still to try. But I got home from work just at 17.30, so, little time to test them all. And no quali setup, yet. So I spent some time cobbling something together for the Q session, not all that successfull, staying well clear of Giovanni's time and even kept a safe distance to the 1:30, but my considerations seemed to shift the car into the desired direction. So I applied the ideas to my race setup, and did a test, better than before, but still not what I desired. The car was working relatively fine in the first half of the track, but beginning with that right/left-chicane in the second sector, it was just like driving on ice. I tried another thing, but that made things even worse. Good thing we had some extra 10 minutes of warmup session today, because in this time, I found a solution. Not sure what it finally was, but it worked. The rear seemed pretty settled under acceleration, without compromising turn-in behaviour. As a very last second decision, I put on soft tires on the rear and adjusted the pressures a bit, without exactly knowing where I was going to, but the car seemed to like that more.
So, into the race, and my plan was to bring it home. Safely. My finishing record of late isn't that grand. Green light, and everything went backwards, first. What a dog of a start, from 18 to 22, just Brians start was even worse than mine, but I was stuck behind him. Oh well...
...slowly, I could make up some position, some on track, some by others mishaps, but the handling was still terrible, understeering all the way. Maybe my decisions weren't all that good after all? Its all that hot and sticky around here, I don't see myself torturing myself for another 70 laps... Lap 7, and I was back at my grid position, but when I entered the start/finish straight, I realised my engine temps were already at 105 degrees at the beginning. Ouch, that is a bit early. And the car still being a bit stubborn through the turns, though it got a bit better with the tire temps settled. I had to trade off a bit of time to get the engine in safe temperatures again. Brian seemed a bit out of my reach, but I should be able to fetch Fernando at that rate...
...well, Brian had an off and I was handed his position, thanks for that. I could hold him behind me for a while, but then, traffic and being lapped didn't work in my favour, and he passed me again. Mid sector was his territory, but my car was a bit faster through the faster parts of the track, and I clearly had an advantage in top speed. And then, we rushed down the straight and I was in a position, and even on the inside line, my braking point was managable. Just hadn't taken into account he might have to turn in at some point, and that might be into my way. There we were, the dust settled and both of us in the gravel. Where's that huge hole when you need it the most? I somehow managed (with running the engine into the limiter twice and temps uncomfortably high) to get the car out of the gravel. Right into the traffic! That could have easily gone wrong. I really shouldn't be here tonight. I tried to cool down a bit and get into my rhythm again. Handling still difficult, engine temps fine, in front of Brian, where I shouldn't be after that collision, how's my fuel use? 2.55, that fine, oh wait, wasn't that my brake marker? It was, and I was at about the 15 metre mark when I finally hit the pedal. I was already reaching for the escape key (now I really had enough of my shenanigans), but miraculously, the car came to an halt in front of the tire stack and was still unscathed! Apparently, someone still wanted me to continue! Lost two positions when I rejoined, but the issue with me being in front of Brian was solved. I continued and just tried to really get into a rhythm with the cars handling further detoriating as the tires went down. Dario in the Osella wasn't much of a competition, Brian would constantly increase the gap, and the distance to Fernando kept about the same. I made my pitstop at the end of lap 37, passed Fernando there, who had to deal with lenghty repairs and the first lap thereafter was a bit hairraising, but from there, things went into my favour. Once tire temps and pressure were there, it was a completely different car! Willing to turn, stable rear end, neutral with the ability to put the car exactly where I want it to be with a bit of throttle modulation, life can be so easy! And with fewer cars on track and being lapped less often, I could keep up a good, relatively fast pace and get closer to Brian, even after his pitstop. Hm, I better be careful, after taking him out last time and almost this time. But then, it was only 10 seconds and for 9th position. And then, three cars ahead of us were DNF, and suddenly, it was for points! And then, suddenly, I was in front of him, I think somehow traffic-related, but Brian is one tough cookie to race with, and he certainly wasn't willing to hand me the position that easily, I had a somewhat slow run from he lefthander after the chicane and he was in a position to challenge me in the next, fast lefthander, that manoeuvre was probably a bit harsh, but otherwise, I'd have run off track, but Brian had to back off which gave me 5 seconds and sealed the deal. That was still pretty hairy down the last few laps, but 6th! A point!! Not all that bad for that rotten first half of the race. Sure gives me a good moral boost for the second half of my 12 day work stint!
Next on is Austria, if I'm correct, I hope to be able to fetch a good ride for this race, which is always one of my favourite events. Its 'almost, but not completely flat out'-nature seems to favour me

Well, first of all thanks to the admins for the opportunity to race this Sunday as a one-off in a Benetton. It’s a beautiful car, BMW engine, so I was very happy with the opportunity. I didn’t remember it was such a comfortable car! And fast at the same time. But Richard was in another galaxy in Hungary, and Tim in another planet with the other Benetton.
So I tried to humbly do my homework with the available time I could manage to have. And I wasn’t able to join early this afternoon, but I already had finished my setup, needing just some fine tunes. Strategy was B tyres in front, C rear, and then C-C if a stop was necessary. However, starting in the back was not in my plans, but that’s where my basic skills took me.
And it was a clean race until my rear tyres got worn. At around 50% I made some basic mistakes and began to spin. Luckily clean spins, lost positions… until I spun and hit the wall. No front wing, and pitted… for C and D thinking I was discovering powder or something. Horrible call of mine. D’s heat up quickly, C-C was the best choice but it was already to late.
The engine didn’t seem to be willing to fail, so I was confident about a complete race. Until I began losing control again with the high temperatures on rears and at Massa’s corner I lost force feedback, the car got weird and I ran out of track. Shame, but my learning curve 😢
It was a beautiful race. Even more with the homage during warmup. Congratulations to Richard, you were amazing today, and to all the others who finished and scored points. Now let’s get ready for some Apfelstrudel
