I felt strange yesterday after lunch. I took a short nap and... woke up now, after 22 hours. There's something terribly wrong. I won't be able to race tonight, sorry ☠️

That was a weird one, first race with my new 49 ultrawide screen and I clearly got the FOV wrong. Dizzy and I could not get the proper rythm with the car, so I will rather skip race 2 and hope for a better exit next time. Have fun guys.

Qualy 1 went very well. Could do a 1:14.3 on my last attempt which I didn't think was possible. Overshot my grid box slightly at the end of the formation lap, but reverse gear fixed that. The start was bad with too much wheelspin. Juha passed me immediately, Dave a little bit later. I could repass both of them before the end of lap 1. Did a mistake a little bit later and ran slightly onto the grass which allowed Juha to pass again, Dave followed a bit later. I could just keep up with them until the end of the race, but no chance to pass.
Qualy 2 was good as well with another pole. This time I messed up the start even more with too low revs and dropped down to P6. Bumped with another car in Turn 1, I think it was maybe Jonatan. Sorry if that was my fault. Stayed in P5 for most of the race, then Juhas pace (who was P2 at that moment) dropped off a bit and he went back to the end of the group. I also managed to pass Dave when he had a bad run out of the fast right kink before the chicane. Closed right up to John then who also seemed to struggle a bit. But it was not enough time to attempt an overtake, so another third place.
As always, a fun event. Thank you all.

I apologize to the people involved, specially Robin de Vos, for race 2. I had to take avoiding action for yet another carnage at turn 2, and the car just got away from me.

A fun night. The car certainly felt better than at Brands Hatch, though it doesn't do a lot regarding the position. P16 twice in qualifying, and a 12th and a 13th in races, though two very different ones.
That delayed start into R1 didn't help, as I got off the line pretty bad and immediately lost two position. But then, things got a bit hectic, and getting into T3, I noticed a yellow flash in the mirror, and prefered to open the steering, as that Vauxhall would never make it. Some more dissent about the right of way meant I had a brief glance at the points in P10, but the guys behind me caught up pretty quick and soon I was relegated back to 13 again. But the race was far from over, Claudio in his Peugeot gave me a hard time and once almost sent me in a spin, but in the end I prevailed and held my position. I could even make up some time Rob in the Nissan, but I had lost too much time earlier in the race. In Q2, I matched my personal best down to 1/1000 of a second, still 16th. Maybe there was a bit more in it, but I went in the wrong direction with the setup. Ah, well, other things are more important. Start into R2 seemed a bit better than the first time, still I lost another two positions. But a few more cars lacking orientation early on handed me P12, two faster cars quickly passed me again, therefore I could wrestle Simon in his Vauxhall down, which was most important for me to defend my position in the Independents Cup. Then, I tried to keep up with his brother, but he was a bit quicker in the first half. But as the race went on, I could close the gap again, and in the end, there were 0.6 seconds missint to 11th. And if I got that right, I had another cleans sweep at the Independence Cup, with both poles and 1st position in that sub-championship. I can live with that.

First of all i want to say thanks to David Sabre, who provided me a great setup that allows me to make a good pace in the two races. Unfortunately i've maded too many mistakes with myself and especially with Michael and Rob (sorry guys) and could't live up to the rhythm i was having. All said, it was really really fun!

Well, lack of time to practice really showed last night...
Practice: Had time to get a very basic idea for a setup going the same day as the previous round, but after that I haven't had time to properly sit down and drive the car, neither truly the motivation because of the track being Thruxton, never jelled well with this place.
But had a decent base, which saved at least some points last night.
Q1: Did what I could with a couple of tweaks and it made the car quicker, by a little bit. Got into 3rd on the grid.
R1: Got a pretty bad start and was somewhat swamped, with cars on my left with me on the inside line going into Campbell. Broke a tad too late, locked up and ended up running wide, sorry to David and John who I ended up cutting across.
Thankfully no damage to the car and soon were able to catch up to Grant who was sitting in behind Anders with the trio of Nicklas, Dave and Juha up ahead.
A few laps in, Anders broke loose at Church and Grant ended up hitting him and spinning in sympathy, I scathed by, just, and was able to get close to the trio ahead while John caught me like someone possessed, but neither of us got close enough to one another to truly have a move going.
So 4th the reward, through luck of others having moments.
Q2: Was unable to replicate my Q1 performance, barely scraping a couple of timed laps on the board, for 5th on the grid in the end.
R2: Got a better start this time, but so did a lot of guys around. Had slight contact with Nicklas through Allard and we all got through it, running 2 and 3 wide heading to Campbell. There, Nicklas did what I had done in R1 and broke a bit too late, ran through and then came back on track, narrowing the line for myself and Anders who became the ham in the sandwich. Contact was made and me and Anders picked up damage from it.
Sadly my damage was on the left front, the most important part of the car for this track.
The rest of the race I tried to keep up a good pace but tiredness from no rest during the week and slight mistakes saw me cut a few too many times and I then also picked up a speeding penalty. Finally learnt how to check what the speed limit in the pits are, so that's the one silver lining from the 2nd race.
So, overall, a bit dissapointed with no points from the second race but happy to have Thruxton done with, hopefully Oulton Park will be a happier hunting ground, although the 5 cylinder with be a bit of a hamper I recon, so it will be difficult to deal with the Bimmers, Hondas, Renaults, Peugeots and Audis there, but we'll see what we can get going.
Congrats to everyone, apart from the two starts, the races seemed fair overall.

Intense. If I had to describe yesterday’s race this would be it. And I had a lot of fun!
Despite technical problems… because my wheel wasn’t in the mood until warmup. Windows simply didn’t want to detect it. So when it did, little time to prepare for the race. Luckily I already had my setup from offline practice last week, and I know the track.
I wanted to start last but there were four cars behind me. The delay didn’t help much: brakes froze, tyres were cooling down (or should I say up?), which probably contributed for the accidents ahead. I was very conservative so overtaking six cars wasn’t a problem. Then reality showed up and everybody started recovering their positions, including my teammate who I let pass as soon as I saw him, for the championship, since he has way more points than me. I am my own Jean Todt 😅
As the car got lighter, things changed. I started feeling more comfortable and lowered my lap times being able to climb back some positions and overtake my teammate - sorry for that but yeah at that moment the “Fernando is faster than you” drive was happening and I couldn’t help but pass Simon. Happy to finish in one piece and fighting.
So everybody improved for R2… I thought I could do better in Q2 but everybody did, too! I started 17th I think, and this time the formation lap went perfectly. After the start I could keep my position and felt more confident to really race the other cars, avoiding a couple of accidents and climbing up positions. Then the power unit showed its (lack of) power and people started passing me back again. Had a good challenge with Michael, lost position to Simon, though I could still see them very closely.
I thought I would recover those places but then Claudio, Alberto Iquino and another car had a crash and spun. I tried to avoid hitting them but no luck for me this time: damaged the front of my car, spun, and lost a lot of time. However, the car was still good so I kept racing. Alberto closed up the distance and prepared an overtake at the chicane, braking up too late and unfortunately going wide to the tyre barrier. Anyway. Lastly I was trying to overtake Jason and it was good fun as well, although I got a drive thru in the process for badly judging track limits.
As a now back marker the new challenge was to let the faster cars go by. Tried to get out of the way whenever possible. Adrenaline running even when I couldn’t improve anymore! Although I was still able to close up the distance to some cars ahead, seeing the Peugeot once again. There wasn’t any more time.
I wish there were 10 more races at Thruxton this year. But now I have to learn Oulton. Congratulations to the winners, and to my teammate Simon Wittman for the good results! My car wasn’t in Mint conditions after R2 but still a Mint - though I’m gonna send a fax to Vauxhall Sport and see what they can do.

Contact can happen occasionally, but the admin team has witnessed some very questionable moves which we will be looking into. That's not aimed directly at you.

Those who viewed Dave's stream probably noticed he spent most of his evening in company of his teammate.
Dave came up with a great race setup, a much better version of the one I concocted for the opening round at Donington. After Brands we were closer to the front again.
For qualifying I stuck with my own set, which put me on row 1. I had a good start, moved into the lead and managed to keep Dave behind me to score a 1-2 for Renault.
Race 2 was more difficult. I settled in behind Grant, but overdid it trying to get by which opened the door for Dave, John's Volvo and Niklas in the Honda. I retook my spot once, only to throw it away again. I didn't recover from the second error and had to be satisfied with 5th place.
Luckily for me, Anders finished behind me in both races so I'm once again leading the championship, with Renault heading the team standings. We just need to recover top spot in the manufacturer points.

First qualifying was very poor from me, I couldn't string a lap together and ended up somewhere around 16th on the grid. I got a very good start though and managed to avoid the carnage in the first lap and saw myself up to 7th at some point. Race pace was okay, although the final chicane remains a bit of a puzzle.
Managed to do a reasonable lap in Q2 for my standards which had me in 12th on the grid. After another good getaway I found my self in a battle for 6th place with Jonathan and David (Sabre) which was a lot of fun, although J was managing some issue. Got a nice gap going into the last lap and I didn't count on a very impressive dive by David in the final chicane and he managed to outdrag me to the line.
Love these cars!
Regards, Rob

Rubbing fenders is fine, missing brake points by a light year not so much. I remember old Gr. A-DTM races, where half the field was missing a mirror or both before T1, but for most parts, they made it somehow.
