Well, this time i blew my race with the wrong strategy and a spin at the worst moment. I should have cut my losses and pitted early but i kept going to see where it would take. Lose a lap, thats where it was. It was really hard to setup the car for here, but still, it was a lot of fun to keep it going until the end and get one point!

miller! grats on the win, a very well driven race!
pascal that was quite a battle. always hate to have contact, i tried to hold a straight line yet we still touched. i need to see the replay before i can comment more.
incredibly tough race, had to keep focus, mistakes were so easy to make. grats to all finishers.

Firstly, congrats Dave, a truly commanding drive. You'll be a serious championship contender So my race. Decided on a 2 stop strategy as i was using medium fronts and soft rears, pretty quiet start of the race, a few battles but nothing of note. Pitted on lap 24. Started gaining on the cars in front naturally, but then they pitted so the gap to 4th was about 3 seconds. Then 2nd 3rd and 4th started to pull away as they had the newer tires, as i expected but then unexpectedly i started gaining on all of them again, I caught Juha, he made a mistake and i was into 4th, but then Mikula and Jaques were within 3 seconds or there abouts. I guess the softer tires gave me better grip when the fuel was down. So i stuck at it, went past my second pit window (Lap 46) and carried on as i was gaining, thought about finishing the race as the tires felt okay, but then a major slide changed my mind. So i pitted on lap 50 iirc, then it was push time. I was gaining about 1 second a lap on Juha so i believe i would have caught him, passing is another matter, but the gains may have been more as the fuel wore off. But it wasn't to be, a slight mistake and i lost the wing and bent the suspension, then it was all about bringing the car home and hoping i could maybe scrape a point. But not to be. I really need to sort my qualifying pace out though, it's hurting me a lot. Onto Imola, a track where i shall struggle due to being down in power. We're losing about 35 to the Minardi and Brabham and about 60 to the McLaren and Williams. But don't worry, Judd are already working on an upgrade, when we get it, i don't know. Good job i love Imola Congrats again Dave and to the podium.

I certainly wasn't falling asleep when you took a second lap back on me.
Alberto said he'd put his money on me in the broadcast. I hope he didn't. I never saw myself as a winner on pace alone, both Dave and Pascal were quicker and David tends to be a lot more efficient (we'll forget Phoenix). I was surprised to find myself in the lead, but I had no story against the superior Williams and Pascal's closing rate was just shocking. It was only a matter of time before Pascal would catch me if he remained faultless.
The best I could hope for was third, but my chances took a nosedive when I got stuck behind Bruno on the pit entry and David passed me. I finally found some pace in the end, but it was too late and I finished fourth.
Congratulations Dave on bringing the silverware home. We have some work ahead now to keep up with you.

Well I was thinking as I said in the broadcast about full elapsed time over the whole length of the race, not individual pace on the stints or qualy. I really thought Pascal was on a risky strategy regarding tires, but that was not the case. He simply had a formidable pace on soft enough rubber From those at the top I think you had the most balanced act, not the quickest pace but the best combined one. Still, the nice thing about these cars is that it will change a lot from race to race, so I expect some surprises at Imola, where tire wear will not be as much of a concern.

Tyre wear was killing me here. Everybody else was running softer tyres for me it was go hard or go home.

Yeah little Al reported exactly the same, either hards or off-road ones The tracks that are hard on tires do not suit the McLaren, but Imola will be a different story ...

I used the soft tires in a one stop strategy. I paid for being overly cautious at the beginning, losing 17 laps behind slower cars and saving tires too much, 41 laps with the first set of soft tires. From the middle to the end of the race, I had a pace similar to the 2 cars that were ahead of me.

Well that was a race I'd want to forget but at the same time cherish.
I'm pretty sure it's no secret that I had the pace to at least keep up with Dave, likely even finish ahead of him. But it wasn't to be.
Lap one basically did it for me. Can't blame anyone but myself for my spin, I just tried to keep the foot down but the Tyrrell was quite twitchy on full fuel, so I spun. However, that last lap incident was pretty much the icing on the cake. I have my own opinion from what I saw both behind the wheel as well as in the broadcast as well as on the replay.
Also, Alberto: I was running Hard front and Medium rear, hence why I was able to go ~40 laps without stopping. At the end my choice to go with Medium all-around might've screwed me up a little, but idk.
Onto Imola. Hope to be a tad more competitive there.

You did a brilliant race and extracted the last drop of juice from that car. I was astonished when I realized you were indeed on harder tires than I thought at first. There will be Ontario first if you want

In the results page, does the column pits indicate the number of pitstops each driver made? Timo Yes but it isn't reliable, i certainly didn't make 6 stops I think it counts pit stops in the race and if a driver escapes back to the pits.

Good Win Dave Miller! Congrats finishers In my case, not the result I was hoping for About 2/3 distance had the rear snap between turn 4~5 while outside wheels on curb, and lost a wheel on inside wall. Pretty shocked by it after all the practice and trying to look after my tires at the time Likely aided by me trying to be smart with some late setup changes. (insert clueless idiot emoticon) Pretty fun up until then. Some good close wheel to wheel action along the way with several peeps. (I thought it was good anyway) And one of the Williams was lucky to avoid my wreckage as I came to a stop looking forward to watching broadcast Thanks

I'm afraid it was me who hit you David, you braked to avoid Richard and I couldn't react in time and I tapped your rear loosing my front wing, consequently I think Victor hit me with the same result. So pitted for new wing, which pretty much put me a lap down, I was on softs and super softs pitting twice, after my second stop the car felt good, but it was a pity I had to give way to the front runners as I was just as fast as some. incidentally loosing a wing doesn't show up on my hud.
Well done to the podium and many thanks for the broadcast.

Thanks to all for the race, was one of my most enjoyable ever and not just for the obvious reason.
Found that with the Williams I was burning up the front tires and then getting a touch too much over steer on full fuel, so in the end I went for a split tire strategy with Medium compounds on the front and soft on the rear, bit understeery for the first few laps but quite nice once i had the setup right.
At the pitstop went onto full soft tires for the run to the end. Had a code brown when i nearly ran into Brian's Minardi after he went off, otherwise was a mostly quiet drive.
Well done to David Jaques and Pascal for putting in such a strong pace with the cars they had, any mistakes and they would have been on me. I Don't think I could have matched them in a Brabham or Tyrell.
