Uuuuggghhh. Lost it on my own, slapped the rear wing off, lost 2 laps in the pits. Gutted.
My car drove like a dream. Felt like I could run wherever on the track I wanted, traffic be damned. Such a dream car I had. The only lap the entire race I was not in traffic, my accident happened. No idea why it happened, only that it did happen.
If, if, if...
However, very glad to see Cezar prevail! Well deserved!

Wow, that was a sweaty premiere. A decent first 25% (for a rookie), but then kissed the barrier... correction, made out with the barrier and lost a ton of time in the pits. Then struggled to get back in the rythm while not to mess things up for the drivers om the leading lap. O well, that was a ton of fun and can’t wait to practice more and improve. Will definately try to get an entry for the 500:)

What a mess!!!! hahahahahaha lol
Car was great, had just one loose moment that cost me a little damage but was sticking to the 2nd place group. I had not changed left tires in the first pitstop so I think the car was pushing a little more than normal. In the accident I couldn't see much because of the cars in front and seems I took the wrong decision (not the first time) my arm was frozen and I couldn't change my mind in time anyway.
That was it. I was expecting the car to flip back so I could fix it but the engine was dead. :/
Congratulations Cezariusz!!! Great win!!
See you next race!

Very stressing race at such high speeds, but fun overall. At some point even got to lead, but considering the slingshot pass waiting at the exit of any corner I knew it was not going to last. It was impossible to shake off the other cars from the draft, and my race end was in some fashion, crossing the start line sideways after tangling with David Jundt. My Firestone tires being dead at the end of the stints don't help much either, so I guess overall I can consider myself happy.
Some things I want to highlight:
A big congrats to Cesariusz who drove an impeccable race, thought he would lose it at the untimely last pit stop but he recovered well.
A big congrats also to my fellow admin David Sabre, that podium after a long streak of disappointments is well deserved. All the time I knew I would not be able to fend you off, but my downfall came from getting caught by the rest while defending from you. I had the feeling we could be quicker if I was in front and you followed along, but it was not meant to be.
Same for David Jaques, good job today.
Some new guys joining like Joules and Ronnie, which I think did a quite good job for a debut in such a difficult race. Ronnie, you gave me the scare of my life when moving slightly left when I was coming really quick to lap you LOL, thanks God it all went well. And finally, we seem to have found the sweet spot with yellows, now only a multi car accident seems to trigger them, and not single car spinning or crashing. Only two yellows in this race, that was really good.
See you all very soon at Indy, stay tuned for the thread to go up this week, though the entry list of extra cars will unlock later when we open the track for the month of May!

Well that was quite a difficult race, especially trying to stay out of the way of the leaders. I even led the second restart which was a surprise.
Early in the race, Fredriksson and I could have had a big crash coming out of turn 2 as he was on the outside but it all worked out!
Looking forward to Indy and improving speeds!

A great race. Well done everyone, I didn't see any poor driving and only 2 yellows. I clipped the wall before the 1st pitstop which took a couple of mph off my top speed. It seemed that I was always behind Alberto after that and I wasn't sure if that was helping his speed on the straights. I managed to hang on near the front for the whole of the race and was then 2nd or 3rd with Alberto until he got caught up in the traffic behind and couldn't get back to the front. Then its was a fight with Mr. Jaques to finish 2nd and I just held on by the smallest of margins, phew. A sweaty finish. Well done Cezariusz on winning, thanks for the broadcast (it was top notch) , and thanks to everyone for taking part. A super track also, thanks Alberto. I'm happy with 2nd place.

And finally, we seem to have found the sweet spot with yellows, now only a multi car accident seems to trigger them, and not single car spinning or crashing. Only two yellows in this race, that was really good. Indeed, and the racing was cleaner than ever (remember last years' '88 race, this was worlds apart). Really dynamic racing also, especially with older tyres. Great stuff! Too bad we won't visit TWS this season, guess that has to do with the real world energy crisis.

Excellent racing once again For the first time I made a race with consciously planned pit-stops strategy. As you may know the thirsty Coyote can make 31 laps at full race speed, but I knew that most of the field will do a 2 pit-stop race. The small trick was to lift on the throttle when gaining some extra speed from slipstream just a second earlier. Thanks to the changes in the USAC 1974 mod I could adjust gearbox to have a little better start then in the previous races. The start was one thing, but getting rid of the 2nd place guy who is taking good tow from the slipstream is a different and difficult story. At the opening laps I've seen Thiago and David close behind, so I prayed for the tight battle for them so I could get away slightly. Then around lap 30 I realized that no YF so far can indicate admins not triggering the caution laps after the test race week earlier. So just a lap or two later I've pitted for the first time. Everything was ok, so rejoined the race under the green flag. Luckily the yellow was thrown at lap 38, when most of the drivers pitted just a moment earlier. First thing I noticed on oval racing is NOT to pit under green when rest of the pack does it under yellow. Anyway the race continues... At lap 64 I've noticed Jukka's McLaren wings at the exit of T3- that means troubles ahead, so opened my eyes even wider, but to my surprise there was no wreckage on the track. But smoke at the pit entry wasn't any good to see... Another part lying just ahead of the pit-lane proved that trouble on the track is not over yet... Then when reaching the end of T4 with speed over 200 mph, I see Brian loosing the car around middle of the backstretch. That made me thinking- my race will end here. With help of Lady Luck managed to keep the car under control (not so easy when your setup is for left turning only). Yellow was thrown a lap later but that wasn't any good to my fuel strategy- I needed to take the Coyote to lap 68 at least :/ So I've kept cruising behind safety car as long as one lap before green flag. Rejoined just in time and was able to catch the leading group- 5th was the place I've felt is secured. I know that those guys are well more experienced and overtaking such a fast pack may not be possible. I could slipstream quite well but with no space for safe overtake this speed advantage is nothing. Then at lap 81 opportunity arose when Alberto and David left some opening at the inside lane of T1 entry. From now on my biggest problem to keep ahead of the 5 or 6 cars just behind me and the other was to reach the end of the race- the AMS data showed just 1 lap of fuel more than the race distance. Thankfully the fuel calculations were correct and I brought the AJ Coyote to safe and very valuable finish : Thank you all ISO community for the greatest simracing I've ever experienced and thank you for the excellent and challenging race. The car that you've assigned me for the series is the best racing machine I've ever drove. Hopefully will be more lucky with it for the second half of the 1974 USAC championship.
