Spluttering, poppin' and bangin' the entire evening.
Not talking about the noises from my Maserati engine, but from me. Pleased with my effort after a week of covid. Hadn't had much fever or any chest pains or anything like that, just a persistent cough which has left me sleep deprived for the entire stint. I managed to suppress it for the first hour of the race, but it got worse after that so I decided to park it.
The racing on track was way better than my expectations. Had some really fascinating stuff against Miller's Lotus and Ray's Vanwall. Saw fewer mistakes on track than expected too. Bodes well for a great season.

Not only the Coopers squealed like a mechanic forgot to tighten a belt, Anders' Vanwall did too.

Didn't really manage a decent lap in qualifying with all the joins and traffic. Race ended very quickly due to a stupid mistake at T1, braked early but still managed to lose it, sorry August! Great race to watch on the stream afterwards, it flew by. Well done to all that finished, great consistency shown, a really high standard of driving. Hope I can get a seat to join you all for round 2.

Perfect drives by Juha and Lewis And Congrats to my Teammate, on also bagging points (Tim Hille) not sure how many teammates we have haha I had some dumb mistakes early in race while trying to figure out what that squealing was Thought my car was broken lol Had another while between Lewis and Jundt later on. David tried to sneak by while I was all crossed up, a risk that I would have taken as well, unfortunately we tangled. Wasn't sure if it was just a racing incident or not, but I paused for a second anyway, saw David was off, then resumed. DJ, I was thinking you might catch up, and if you did I'd let you by. I thought that would be fair? I just didnt know if anyone was actually at fault, but that you prob deserved the position Agree with Jacob's comments. Really good driving for all in slippery cars Dont know anyone gonna compete w those damn Coopers at Monaco

Man oh man was that a race. I knew I didn't have pace but I knew I could finish as long as I kept it on the track and that's what I did. I had a real good race with Jason Whited early on in the race before he fell out and was kinda sad to see it end. However, Adam Hackman decided to pit for tires about halfway through and that put me ahead by about 45 seconds. From there I just tried to manage the tires and manage the gap to stay ahead at the finish. I am really happy with this finish. I really need to learn more about what this car wants from me to get more speed out of it.
All that being said, congrats to Juha, Lewis and Brian on the podium. I can't wait to see what Monaco brings, hopefully another race finish!

Major workout, but I really enjoyed myself, though I'm a bit dissappointed about the result. I managed a personal best in the qualifying session in the second run, just shy of the 1:30, but I couldn't get any quicker. Maybe I was trying a bit to hard, so I stuck with that time and 10th position on the grid. Okay, but not great. Start was okay, once the race finally got underway, mostly disciplined, but it soon went backwards for me. I lost a lot of time and a few positins on acceleration down the start/finish line, like I was standing right there, maybe a combination of having my car geared rather long and trying to master the hairpins in second gear, that was quite frustrating, because otherwise, I wasn't so far off the other peoples pace. But by lap 10, the oil temperature was already at 103 degrees, even though I tried hard to manage revs and temps, they didn't rise any further, but I probably left a few ponies there keeping the revs in check. Balance was fine as long as I kept my left rear under 115 degrees, but laptime progression left a lot to be desired. I managed to do my personal best in lap 20, and the majority of laps thereafter were within a second of it, but it also wouldn't just go faster than that, the 1:31s were out of reach today, though I had repeatedly and safely done laps in that area. I had a couple of fights, though, early on with Gabriele, until I spun out behind him, later a really great threesome with Richard and Bruno, that was really great. I really enjoyed that, too bad they dropped out after a few laps, though, and there I was mostly on my own, over half a minute behind the car in front of me, and 20 seconds and rising to the car behind me. Did another overeager excursion when Kayo left the pits just in front of me, he'd drop out between T2 and T3, though. I could gain a few seconds to the next car every now and then, but for most part, the gaps stayed pretty even. It seemed, as if some of the cars ahead of me dialed it a bit down, for whatever reason. And suddenly, the race was over! Didn't really feel like 79 laps, but I'm pretty knackered now!
Gonna have to work on my mid-race performance and laptime progression, I need at least 30 to 40 seconds, and I have to investigate further, how much the engines are really willing to take. I'm happy that thing held up, though, had a few blown engines to much last season. And I'm already looking forward to the faster, flowing tracks, they should suit the car better!

I was just there avoiding you "getting dizzy", but to my misfortune, your trajectory was right into my side, spinning me around. I probably don't have to mention my tyres were even more overheated which nullfied my advantage in the twisty turns against your straight-line monster. Fair would've been no gap between us Brian, since that's how the situation was when it happened Anyway, P2 at the start wasn't bad(after the re-installation trouble I had, now I at least won't have to search on my One Drive anymore, also had to solve some controller issues before I could go out and drive), sadly messed up out of nowhere at the hairpin and threw my "sit there and pressure Juha"-strategy out out of the window. At least I had some pace to snatch FL for a bonus point. Was a lot of fun driving in general though, especially racing against Juha Hopefully I get another chance at Monaco.

These cars are great. Unfortunately there wasn't any speed I could extract from the old Maserati. I would consider this one of my most consistent races in the league running in the 32s pretty much the whole time, no spins or moments and 12th was the best I could do.(gained position because of opp) Had a brief fight with Coxon for the 16th place, that was fun to watch. But it was fun to drive anyway. Thank you guys! Have a nice week.

What a way to start the year!
In pre season testing I learned the Cooper was an excellent machine around twisty tracks, so I knew Buenos Aires would be the ideal playground. Setup options are limited and I soon found a right gearing/tyre pressure/brake bias triangular combo to extract the most out of my rear engined miracle machine.
The timesheets seemed to prove me right, but in Qualifying Brian found some extra speed in his Ferrari (well done!) and David Jundt demoted me to third on the grid. He probably didn't get the memo I was supposed to be team leader at Walker's.
This complicated things slightly, as overtaking isn't an easy task around this track. I didn't really have a clue where I'd have to overtake a Ferrari which would murder me on the straights. But the flag dropped, I had the right revs on the line and by the first turn I found myself in the lead. Now all I had to do was keep this up for 2 hours.
David acted as a buffer on the opening lap, keeping Brian's Ferrari at bay, but by lap 8 Brian got close enough for an attempt in the first turn. We both kept it on track and 2 turns later Brian removed himself from the equation by going straight on at the hairpin.
I then tried to open up a gap to David, but he hung on. The surplus power (well, all 10 or so horses...) kept me ahead on the straights, whereas David kept coming back on the infield where I had to pick my lines carefully to avid leaving a gap for him. Maybe my gearing was suited better to the straights? At times he did get close enough to put a wheel alongside, but I went into Danger Mode by shifting 200 RPM later to remain ahead on acceleration, hoping the engine wouldn't reach a premature anti-Climax.
David finally left me alone after a failed overtaking attempt at the hairpin and I had a few laps of peace and quiet with a gap of about 10 seconds over the next car, which was now Lewis Stephen in another T45. I wouldn't have any advantage over him with his identical car, so keeping the gap stable was paramount.
However, with 30 laps to go, I signalled Bono my rear tyres were gone. He kindly informed me the boys were already celebrating the potential 1-2 result with our sponsor/team owner's product so no one could remember where they'd left the spare tyres and I'd be on my own.
The 10 second gap to Lewis was soon halved when the Cooper developed yet more oversteer. I survived a few moments which allowed him to get too close for comfort.
I tried to extract a few more revs. After all, the engine still hadn't been into the danger zone. David took fastest lap away from me, but I was more interested in the bigger points haul. I kept the steer-from-the-rear Cooper in first placed and after two rather stressful hours I emulated the actual 1958 race by handing victory to Rob Walker Racing.
Well done to Lewis and Brian on completing the podium!
This car also won at Monaco, but I doubt I'll be able to deliver a repeat performance and I expect life to become a lot harder beyond that race because this car doesn't have the legs on the straights on the subsequent tracks. As such, I'm glad I made the most of this opportunity.
Until then, I find myself in a position where I thought I'd never be, leading an F1 championship, and it feels satisfactory.

Absolutely loved doing this race The little Lotus is very quick in the corners, but giving away 1/2 a litre in the engine showed down the straights, still huge fun to drive though. I'm happy with a top ten finish on Lotus's F1 debut, not bad for a an F2 car with a modified WW2 Fire pump engine jammed into it. Hopefully I can do a bit better at Monaco, the straight bits only get longer after that

At least you get the 2.2 Climax at some point to help you move along those straights. Us peasants in Coopers are stuck with 2.0s.

Yeah, Rob Walker won, but the wrong car Juha xD
I might have to check if I messed up tyre pressures, I ran rather default ones and was wondering if I was wearing them too hard.
170/175 175/180
But after like 2 spins, them wearing more/overheating wouldn't be a surprise really.

Yeah, Perhaps I dont understand the rule. I messed up the corner BUT, It happened in front of you, not behind. You shot for the gap around a "dizzy" car, I dont blame you, I would've done the same. It was unfortunate, and I felt crappy that you couldn't avoid me. Don't know what else to say Good race anyway See ya next time

My car was ok during the first couple of laps and I was able to overtake a few cars until I missed my braking for turn 1 and run wide on the grass and through the gravel. I made it back to 20th and ran there for a long time, half distance seems to take an age to get to. After that a few spins and offs and then trying to catch David Jaques (I guess that you had some trouble) with 10 laps to go I got the gap down to 1.5 seconds only for the rear of the car to become uncontrollable under braking. I'm not sure if it was tyre wear or the brakes going off. For the last laps it was a cruise to the finish. All fun but very hard work. 14th place . I hope that the BRM finds some more speed during the season, it going to be a long season at this pace. I seemed to be slow on the straights but that could be the gears that I used.

Thouroughly enjoyed this race, never would have thought I'd get a podium as my qualifying position wasn't exactly great. My aim was to drive pretty conservative throughout the race which gave me a chance at the end to win. I will admit though that the lap traffic seemed to fall in my favour more than Juha which definitely helped close the gap even more. Really enjoyed my battle with David and Brian. Super happy with my first podium in ISO.
My apologies to Angel also I think (for some reason driver labels turned off) as I ran into the back of you.
Well done to Juha and Brian, excellent drives from both.

See you at Monaco
