Something ive noticed from this period is that the f1s seem to throw massive fireballs from the exhaust on downshift and upshift, but not cart. Is there a reason that you cant see big flames even though theyre big hp turbo cars?

I think the main reason is that CART uses methanol, which burns invisibly.

If i was in the governing body.. i would advocate for an additive to be added to the fuel to make the flame visible...

Yes but if you mandate that additive for all methanol, imagine with all the beer the drivers used to drink back then the farts, it would be like the 4th of july in the garages

Visible or not- putting out gasoline/pertrol fire is far more difficult than methanol one

I remember having seen a documentation on TV, back when Indycars still used methanol. They specifically trained the fireman what to look for to recognize if a methanol fire broke out.
