Just checked the statistics, and my feeling I totally owned the first sector was right, quickest S1 in Q with almost 2/10s on the next car. Just lost a heap of time in S2 and S3, either in acceleration or the hairpins.
What really surprises me is the only guy who had set faster laptimes than me in the race was Anders, who was absolutely untouchable today. But I could have sworn some other gents would have lapped far better than me!

Had some fun battles with Sabre and later on Hackman. Enjoyed it a a lot. So slow on straight trought so could not really help with the slipstream I was mainly steeling a ride rather then helping out. To bad the fight ended prematurely it was shaping up for a close finish. Happy with 7th.

What a fun race to participate in! I managed to do a good number of laps training and I was confident with the car. During the week I worked on different gear ratios and I think I found a good performance with and without slipstream.
At the start, everything was very complicated for me. I didn't understand what happened with Francisco and his car stopped on the grid, I was pressed against him and the steering wheel was bent. Okay, although crooked, I managed to have good control of the car and I gained some positions. Then came the first falter and I put a wheel on the grass, enough for me to lose control of the car and cross the track right in front of August (sorry, I was a passenger in the pendulum car). I got back to the track without losing many positions, but on lap 7, I lost the braking and hit the barrier and the car was very crooked. I stopped in the pit and it was 120 seconds of repairs and a lot of fuel and tire changes. Back on the track, the car was fine and the steering wheel was no longer bent and that excited me. Now I was almost 2 minutes away from the nearest car. That's when the race started for me, I was improving my lap time and taking an average of 5 seconds from the closest cars. A few good battles with François at the beginning and then with Juha who was a lap ahead but at one point he had a car to put laps on us and the warning I received from the Long Beach race echoed loudly in my ears and took the my concentration and leaves the track once again losing contact with Juha. I kept accelerating hard, I arrived at the 2 Lotus that were running together and soon I saw myself discounting the difference to François who valiantly defended his position. So I made a mistake on the exit of a turn and I pulled into the back of François' car and lost control of the Cooper and did about 200 meters on the shoulder. I didn't give up, I forced the pace and was approaching François again until his connection resolved an end in a well balanced dispute. Congratulations Anders, no one could keep up with you at the pace you did.

Wow great combo this was . Manage to get pole in this company, thought the Ferrari boys would claim that . Got off to a decent start but Tim flew by and starting to building a gap to me. With Zaandvort in memory i wasnt to let him run away with this one. So i pushed my Vanwall harder than i had planned to try to close the gap. Got back up to his gearbox, sitting behind enjoying the slipstream and letting me car cool down abit. After that it was a cat and mouse play betwin us. Tim was faster out off the haipins and i was faster in the sweepers . Made some attemps but he always came back and was beating me to the finnish line. So i closed my eyes for the temp and went as hard as i dared to break the tow and manage to get clear . Great racing Tim Both me and my car held it together and i scored a win Wd to Tim for and Kayo + all that finneshed

This track and the Vanwall suited me well, qualified third, had a bad start dropped back a bit , had a spin early on went further back, then settled down and got back up to 5th and had a great fight with Jacob , I could pass but was soon passed again with the slipstream, then 12 laps to go the engine let blew , I had missed a couple of shifts but wasn't expecting it, kind of let the Vanwall team down . Was fun though.
Well done to Anders and all finishers.

Very, very happy with 4th place! I feel like my driving is getting back to the form I know I can have, and results are showing again.
With the "piccolo" Maserati we would be fighting for wins, but now with the "leggera" I am at least "best of the rest". Both at Zandvoort qualifying and again here I maximized the potential of the car. Back then I blew up, but now I had enough in store to gain a 4th place. Did a good enough start to miss the biggest mess and got a good enough to gap to the faster cars behind to stay up there. Had great battles with Brian, Ray and finally Luciano to defend that position, and while I was lucky to that both Brian and Ray had their mishaps, I really had to do my best to keep in front of Luciano. I don't think we've battled before, but he drove very maturely, driving defensively but never unfairly. I managed to squeeze by and get a good enough gap with 2 laps to go to secure my 4th place.
Reims is a lot of fun with these cars, an instant classic for me.
Silverstone though, next up. Eh, not sure yet. See you all there at least!

My entire Q was horrible, I just didn't get the lap together, so I decided for a desperate last minute attempt that worked (thanks to the BRM, I think Jaques, for towing me and pushing me at the long straight), that lap put me 2nd and it was my first ever sub 19 here, happy with that
My start was basically perfect, managed to have no wheelspin at all and build a good gap before the first hairpin However after a few laps I noticed that Anders was faster than me, I had the hope that he will play the slipstream game with me for a few laps so I could build a gap to P3 for a save 2nd place That is exactly what happened, had a nice clipstream battle but once Anders decided to leave me alone, all I had to do was driving this triangle for another 90 minutes to secure a safe 2nd place
Happy to secure my 2nd in a row I know that P2 wasn't the result Musso pushed for in the real race for but I hope he is also happy with seeing his car in P2
