That was a short race. I thought that I had a good race setup and was taking it easy for the first few laps. I had a chance to pass Jonatan for second in class going into the first chicane but decided not to, then I got on the exit kerb and the car spun into the barrier. I re-joined the track safely but the closing speed of the cars behind in a pack lead to the cars at the back not seeing that I was going slowly and unfortunately Kayo hit me hard. Race over for Kayo and me. Sorry Kayo.

Fun while it lasted in the Jägermeister car. Started 6th and stayed in 6th until I crashed out. Didn't turn any laps here until just before qualy so it was always gonna be hard.

Fun race, and that fifth place is what I was aiming for. A short notice change of situation had me do reception desk duty on a late shift, that meant no qualifying for me. Oh well, gonna have to chase that whole bunch down, then! I did my first laps of the day in the warm up session, car was a bit to loose for my taste, so a little tire pressure change was due, but that was perhaps a little to much, because it now happened to be somewhat tight in the opening laps. First start, I had a chance to examine the rear ends of some Bimmers and Fords, and thought myself 'okay, tonight we'll just roll around and enjoy ourselves'. Luckily that one was aborted and I had the opportunity to ask if I was supposed to be there. Next attempt, and I was in closer company this time, though it didn't look correct either, but I don't know. Start was a bit hectic, but I was soon able to fetch 10th position. Cezariusz pulled into the pits, and I was in 9th, another mishap at the first chicane and I was in 8th. So far, so good. Disaster struck in lap 3, though, I was shadowing Francisco and Jules, when the draft and the inside line got me off guard and I braked to late for the first chicane. That could have ended really bad, but luckily, I didn't hit anyone, but that cost me positions again. I took a deep breath and went my way, trying to build up a rythm. A while later, I could take my position from Francisco again, had to raise the turbo pressure for a stretch and finally could outbrake him towards the first chicane, and that sound of a flat six screaming for mercy, together with a car quickly getting smaller in my mirrors told me he missed a gear. Case closed! From there, I went after Jules, Luciano and Tim, and I was making up some ground to them, but around mid-race, I realised I was a bit short of fuel. I did some lifting and coasting, I lost about 5 seconds to them, and a position I had to hand Cezariusz. After three or four laps, I was within my fuel margin again and went a bit faster again, but didn't really expect to make up positions, unless someone would drop out. Whoops, there went Kyle and Tim. And then, Jules went wide in Ostkurve, and I was right behind Luciano and Cezarius, and it became a wild ride. With three laps to go, I used full boost as Luciano was obviously using more than myself, still I didn't find a opportunity to make a safe pass. Then we approached to Motodrom, and we both went wide in the heat of the battle - but it seemed he spun off on the grass, something I could just avoid. It cost me a lot of time to get back to the track, but Luciano needed even more! With 8 seconds to Luciano and another 8 to Cezariusz, it was time to wrap things up, I turned down the boost and rolled it safely home. Left rear and fuel were on the limit, I had another off entering the Motodrom in the last lap, but I had enought of a gap to hold my position.
Fifth, that is absolutely fine considering the cold-start nature of the event. On to the next race!

Well, that went a lot better than I thought it would.
Practice: Realized very early that I'd have to run it on full boost if I wanted to have any kind of straight line speed to talk about, so I went into this race with the mindset of "If she blows, she blows". I recon I was saved by the fact that it was such high speed and full air going into the radiators that she never went above 102 oil and I think 93 water...
Race: So got off the line allright, lost out to Ruben who I then could pass on the run to Turn 2 down at the first chicane.
What then transpired was David Sabre flying up to my rear bumper on the following lap but then decided to back out of it, which sadly saw him off the road due to entering the chicane slightly differently I believe.
A couple laps later, I had pulled in Juha and what then followed was a 16 or so lap battle with him to dispute who was the Meister of power and daring deeds...
We swapped positions quite a few times, the first was a "Oh, I have a run... Well, I'll try it" and I broke up the outside of Juha into the lefthand hairpin in the Stadium section and was able to hold it and get past on the exit. Did a similar move a few times after Juha proved several times that his newer machinery in the form of that 320 had waaaaaay more straightline speed and power to work with, but he was looking for championship, I just wanted a good result.
So we had several good dices across the race, sadly I couldn't make use of his biggest mistake when he out-broke himself on the way to the 2nd Chicane, scrambled across and came out on the racing line in the right-hander part of it, with me mis-reading where he'd end up and rear-ending him.
So 2nd was way better than I had expected but somewhat bummed that I had a decent shot at a Div.2 win here but oh well, maybe Zandvoort will prove as kind to me as this horrid abomination of a racetrack turned out to be to me...
Congrats to all finishers and the podium of both classes.

Which the qualy had already started and I was still finishing the Lasagna for Easter lunch with the family. I went to the track heavy from eating so much and I didn't do very well in qualy. I started well, but I was determined not to make any mistakes and to finish the race scoring points. I looked for a smooth pace and accelerated from halfway through the race to the end. Many were retreating in front of me and I started chasing Filippo thinking that my isolated and boring run would have some emotion. After closing the gap from 18 to 3 seconds with Filippo, he made a mistake and went off the track, ending the expectation of a dispute between us. After that, it was just a matter of taking the car to the finish line with fuel for one more lap. It was useless for me to force the pace, as the car closest to me was 57 seconds ahead. At least I didn't get lapsed, finishing on the same lap as the leader and scoring championship points.

Finally I finished upholstering my BMW GT2 wheel in the morning after almost 2 weeks of learning and work. Jumped in to put some laps using the Nurb setup as a start. It was pretty much setting the gears for what I thought could save the engine and make fuel. Telling by the server laps, other than Cezar I didn't see many folks putting a big amount of preparation and that probably helped me. I was expecting Jaques and Kyle to run 2:02s in qualify but for my surprise I got the pole.
My long gears played against me at the start and also I should had downshifted to 1st in T1 but I didn't, pushing me back to 4th. The pace was there, I just had to be patient, make no mistakes and wait for the opportunities.
There were a very tough fight in front of me in the end. Juha X Jonatan. I hung in there behind for 2/3 of lap watching the fight and waiting for the best place to overtake and not affect their battle.
I don't know what happened to Cezar, he had pace for pole and win. Very unfortunate.
Congrats to D1 and D2 podium and finishers.

New wheel would cost me almost $400 with tax and shipping so I decided to try to fix it by myself in a budget. I had to fill some spots where my hands dug into the rubber. Used an eraser+rubber cement+dremel. (I don't have pics of the process) After that it were hours of videos trying to understand how to actually create a cover, dimensions, stretch compensations, bla bla bla... I didn't want to make a separated piece for each spoke which made everything more difficult. Anyway, if anyone has curiosity or want to do it I hardly recommend.

Apologies if I caused any troubles on the first few laps. I managed to get a S/H 10 sec on the start. I thought I'd jumped the start and overtaking before S/F was not allowed, but then came in here this morning and realized it was as I thought...green flag was go mark. So, still not quite sure why I got penalty (perhaps I was accidentally ahead of the car beside me, which was 1 position ahead of me on grid?...I don't think I was, but maybe. I was watching the HUD and thought I was a tenth or more back. Will watch replay and see what was up with that)
Anyways, it distracted me and I almost made a mess at the chicane. Ended up with wheel on grass and had to slow to let a bunch of others by. Did a few laps, then went to serve penalty, but not before a few more mistakes that almost made a mess. I nearly came back on track in front of a few other cars. Luckily, that didn't go as bad as it could have.
Just was not prepared for this race and it showed. Thought I had it licked though. Little over an hour prep before race and I felt ok with it. Car was handling nicely and pace wasn't so bad. Probably should have sat it out though, considering how it went.
I ended up, about lap 10, finding myself with some damage and severe flatspots. Pace was down and I was well behind. Felt like I was about to screw up even worse and REALLY make a mess so I just parked it about lap 11.
Just came to apologize, though I don't think I cost anyone too much overall. Still, not my finest hour for sure.
Grats to those that had these beasts under them and those that made the podium. I'll try to get some more practice time in before the next one. Maybe actually do a little something. See you all then.

Another fun race in the DRM series. No point in making an effort in qualifying since this is turbo heaven, eventually ended up more or less slowest. But had one hell of a race. Battling with John and Wilmer for most of the race, I had to push the car like hell and was actually quite surprised that it lasted the entire distance. Could after more than 10 laps of hard racing finally stretch a gap to Wilmer to secure 4th. Happy with that.

Grats to Juha and Jonatan u were untouchable had a small hope u guys would run short on fuel I was more worried about running short on engine life. Each time I thought I was rid of Jonatan, I lowered the boost and revs, and soon enough he'd be back again. He must have kept the temps in check because mine never fancied such treatment earlier in the year. You'll have a better time at Zandvoort Anders, our turbos won't have the same advantage there.
