Relieved to have made the show with basically no prep/setup time. Now to put some hours in this week to find the speed all those 87C/DFX runners at the front of the field already have.

I'm going to have to pull out last minute. I've been struggling with an elbow injury and cannot get the pain to subside this morning and I am just not up to doing oval racing with this particular injury as it seems to exacerbate it.
Apologies for not doing this sooner, but I was hoping I could suck it up and get it done.
I see at least one reserve in the server at this moment, so I think grid will still stand full. I'll be watching from the sidelines, GL everyone!

That was another short one, and my entirely my fault. Had a lot of speed when going for the pits, Michael was slower and I couldn't avoid him.

That was another short one, and my entirely my fault. Had a lot of speed when going for the pits, Michael was slower and I couldn't avoid him. Part of that goes on me, too, I slowed down because I dearly overshot my pit spot in the warmup, now the same place was a good deal behind the paddock entry...
...wasn't my day, anyways, start was still okay, from there, it quickly went down from 17 to 26 or so, all other cars seemed to be quicker in about every spot of the track, cars passing inside, outside, on the beginning of the straights, the middle and the end. My car was slow as eff, and I still have no clue how to get a decent speed out ouf the car with temps, revs and fuel consumption in balance. I tried my best to keep the engine temp below 105 degrees, fuel was okay then, engine speed ... it seemed as if I had geared it way to long and choked that one off to keep revs low enough. It felt like I was pretty much the slowest car on the track, but I could at least a few cars behind me, and some others did me the favour of having some early incidents, so I was soon stuck around 23, 24. First round of pitstops, so far all was fine, except I had a smallish damage to the car, when my crew asked me to pit when I was far from half point of the race. Deselecting and restoring my screen got me a tad offline and I brushed the wall.
First pitstop, and while I was looking for my pitstall, I got a tap from behind. Awesome, 2 1/2 minutes of repairs, and all I gained so far was lost, luckily a yellow was thrown at the same time.
Second stint was pretty much eventless, I changed a bit my strategy on boost and revs, went with my shorter fourth and a click boost less, which kept fuel use and temps in check but seemed as if it helped a bit on acceleration. Two laps down on the next car and a few ahead of the car behind me, not much to gain there. Not much to say about the second stop, but on lap 75, I had an incident that is just beyond me. Grant passed me on the inside of T3, a bit late maybe, but I deemed it a save distance and a save line, but suddenly, the car just went into the wall, I lost my wing and everything pretty bent. Somehow I could get the car back into the pits, what cost me two laps alone, and another 10 minutes of repairs. Thanks for nothing. My motivation said goodbye, flopped itself into the armchair and watched some nonsense on TV...
With a dozen of laps down on competition, and Jason with all troubles on his own and five laps behind me, I went with the long gear, save boost level, 32 laps per stint at ~102 deg maximum and laps in the high 48s, all I intended was to finish the race and maybe get washed some further positions up. The later worked a little and I got back up to 21st or so, but then, some 125 laps in, the engine went all quite on me, despite all efforts to keep it safe. What a waste of an evening. And having a look the the broadcast, my name is missing in the list?

Congrats Richard and all the finishers Difficult race, but I made it to the finish line. Huge apologies to Francisco Amaral, I think my exit form the pits ruined your pace. Sorry

Phew, what can i say about that one. Really stoked to win my second Indy 500 (3rd 500 in total after winning a Michigan 500 race too) Worked very hard on the setup of the Lola, Wilks helped me out with a setup from the March, but it wasn't really suitable for the Lola, so i certainly had to tweak it a lot to make it a safe, driveable car. After Saturdays carb race i was concerned as Vadim and Jaques could just pull away when i tried to attack in the first stint. I contemplated making changes to the car for the race proper, the changes made the car quicker, but a little more unpredictable so i decided to run the same setup as i did in carb day. In warmup again, was a little concerned looking at the pace of the guys who qualified around the front, i just couldn't hit the early lap pace they were doing in warmup. I guess a little gamesmanship was at play So onto the race, i decided to turn the boost up to pass Hackman as i thought my best chance of getting a good result, i soon expected the 3 cars behind (Adam, Vadim and Jaques) to stick to be pushing again to overtake, especially Vadim and Jaques with the pace they had shown in the Carb day and Warmup but to my major surprise i was able to pull away, first 1 sec, then 2. I was really shocked to see the gap rising. Before i knew it the first pitstops were on us, and i had already made my decision on strategy based on what happened in the real race. Just change the 3 most used tires. (Front Right, Rear Right and Rear Left). This saved me about 4-5 seconds compared to when i changed all 4 tires (I changed 4 on the 2nd, 4th and 5th stops, 3 on the 1st, 3rd and 6th). The in and out laps were really nice too, i had no major issues on all the stops. From then on it may have looked an easy race, but as has been mentioned before many times, you cannot afford to switch off around here so it certainly required full concentration. It seemed as though i was quicker than the chasing pack at the beginning of the stint, but they closed the gap as the fuel came out of the car (Last 10-15 laps of the stint) A massive thanks to Jonatan and Tim for broadcasting, you did a great job as always Jonatan and i hope we can hear you in the booth more often Tim. A huge congrats to all finishers, you've just completed potentially the toughest race we do at ISO. Thanks to all that showed up to the race, without you guys and gals we wouldn't be doing what we are doing. I can't think of a better group of people to race with See you all at the next one! Milwaukee will be a completely different race and i imagine a few people will want to bounce back.

Finally I finish my first 500 mile race and it's my home race to boot!
I had been very quite preparing since I was trying not to get too excited about racing at Indy like I did last year in the 1978 cars. Luckily I had stumbled upon a very stable race setup that had a good compromise between straight line speed and speed in the corners, all I had to do was keep the oversteer under control with the bars and I could comfortably run full stints at a decent speed. Starting from the midpack is nothing new for me since I quite honestly suck at qualifying but I knew I could make up time on track and 500 miles is a long distance to go. I'm just glad that I was able to keep the car under me and to finish only 2 laps down. There were so many fast people out there and it was a pleasure to race with Petr and Jacob for I don't know how many stints. If I pushed harder in the middle I could have probably caught the elder Riddall but I'm not gonna beat myself up over finishing 4th.
Congrats to Richard, Vadim, and Ray for a very well run 500 miles!

Yes, that was a great one August! I had a pretty solid run going, was involved in an incident a bit after halfway which took off the edge of the car, and eventually pushed a bit too hard in the final stint trying to pull away from Petr. In the end didn't lose any positions because of that, just happy to finish albeit some laps down. Felt that my car was a rocket ship on light fuel load, but a tank on a full fuel load, lost too much time in the early parts of the stint to be able to keep up with August. Lots of fun was a had at least, congrats Richard for a dominant drive.
