I Had a fun Sunday drive in the Lotus, giving away so much power to everything else it was impossible to hang onto anyone once I fell out of the slipstream, no matter how daring I was on the brakes or through the corners. so in the end I just had a nice chill drive in a nice little car on a nice track, It was all just nice... except for the bit where I spun at the Parabolica because I was being clever.... Onwards to Portugal, a street track I think, maybe I can put the best side of the Lotus to use, Will be fun either way

Well, that was quite surprising. I had no idea that a one-off car may be this competetive. I was ignorant enough to think that "picollo" = small = some kind of downsized engine or whatever I came back from vacation in the late afternoon, put my 15 inch wooden wheel on, switched the shifter from sequential to gated mode and went straight to qualifying. P5 was nice, but I still didn't see the potential of this little rocket. I had a decent start and moved up to P3, right behind two Ferraris. Suddenly, there were only the three of us battling at the front and the rest of the pack disappeared. That's when I realized that I might fight for a victory. Soon I passed both Ferraris and started to pull away, tenth by tenth. I was focusing on one thing - don't overdrive it. Don't shift too late, don't powerslide and burn the tyres. Easier said than done, when the car begs you to do every single corner with an opposite lock. It's so much fun! My Maserati was becoming more and more tail-happy towards the end, but it was always predictable. I didn't want to be the second driver to crash out from the lead that day (actually, I'd be the third one as Josef Newgarden had a hard hit later that night at Iowa). I expected those Ferraris to close the gap, but it never happened and I cruised to my first ever ISO victory. There's no doubt that I got lucky with the Maserati. That pocket rocket played a huge role with all its power and handling. On the other hand, I don't feel too bad about winning this one. Navigating these 50s powerboats around the track for 2+ hours without making a single mistake is a decent achievment As a bonus, that wooden wheel and H-shifter make driving even more fun.
Congratulations to all finishers. I'm not sure whether I'll take part in future races, as the countdown to the birth of our baby girl is down to 4 weeks, but I'll do my best to race with you guys as often as possible.

Think my gearing choice a bit too conservative to hang with first 2 Woulda coulda shoulda for the 100th time but felt ok to actually finish Still, waited the whole race for Petr to blow up, based on the acceleration of Maserati out of turns. But it never happened, so Ferrari gets a 2,3,4,5 but not the win. We're all fired

Didn't practise untill ike 1 hour before the race.. just took my Nurburgring setup.. adjust the tyre pressure to more equalize the temps.. but even then.. lock ups are still an issue...
Did an okay Qualy...
Hectic first couple of laps.. with everybody jocking it for positions untill Nillson and i managed to break away from the peloton...
And we kept getting further away from them.. a bit later i lost contact with him.. and i wouldn't hear of him untill he suddenly announced he had issues with his throttle and had to give up.. bummer!
Meanwhile.. finally discovered a way to let my tyres lock up less under braking. by applying abit of throttle during the initial braking faze.. and when the tyres aren't locked anymore.. they won't easily lock up again a bit later into the braking phase...
But even then.. i felt the tyres giving away with about 15 laps to go.. and i was nursing them back home...
Good thing i had a big lead to the other group, and by the time they got around 5 sec. from me.. the race was over.. P4.. oh boy, that was fun, lengthy... and hard!
