Sorry for the contact, Luciano! I should have lifted more to contain the powerslide, hope you car was not damaged. Thank you all for a fantastic season, especially all who worked behind the scenes! No problem Gabriel. Running contact. No damage. Congratulations on the race. Filippo Marazzi, sorry for the touch. I made you lose a position. Sorry.

What an amazing race guys. 4-6 cars from the start to finish fighting together. Really i have enjoyed the battle. I couldn't imagine how interesting the race on such a rollercoaster track could be. Just i want to appologize to Ray for what i did in the middle of the race where i tried to overtake him. I have lost the control over the car under braking and the car wanted to go to the right side unfortunatelly i wasn't able to push the car back on my side so we collided. Fortunatelly i have ruined myself more than Ray who overtook me back and continued without obvious damage. So again sorry for this. Anyway im looking forward to this Group5 mod again in the upocoming years as its not so time consuming racing in terms of preparation, race itself therefore its perfect for me.

1978 Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft What to say of the 1978 DRM?
After crunch time with me and the excellent boys in the mod development team, we pulled it off. Group 5 seasons, never before to be in a simulator apart from seldom carpacks, now in one of the best historic racing leagues and simulator. It was my dream to get these cars realised into virtual reality so as the man spearheading the work, I must thank all the admins and fellow scientists that allowed to me to create, and continue to create this dream until it's spectacular end in 1981. I hope you all as drivers still have your seatbelts strapped because I assure you myself, Wilks and the rest of the team are far from done with these cars.
According to Frank De Jong of tourringcarracing.net fame: "Year two of the new age brought some worrying things. First, it wasn't easy to get the minimum of 10 cars per class, and secondly it became clear that a turbo engine was a necessity in Division 2 as well."
Anders Nilsson channelled his inner Heyer (or maybe, Ronnie Peterson?) as Zakspeed's #01 driver in the #03 car meant for a mechanic of Zakspeed to drive to create a buffer zone between Armin and the rest of the field. Although we turbos had our power, we didn't have reliability on our side, or we pushed our cars past the limit vying for glory. A champion that stuck it to Kuhnle Kopp & Kausch which will have them scratching their heads for sure.
In Division 1 I had nothing but "time to think", trying to scrape any bit of quality out of the infamous works Toyota entry. I suppose there is a reason not even Stommelen could get anything out of that car. Trying to pick up points where possible, but never enough to contest for the championship in itself, but I can't say I didn't love it every bit of the way.
My best memory was Zandvoort, trying (unsuccessfully) to hold off the Kremer Porsche of mastermind Wilks and Thiago Canola, a Porsche whisperer who disappeared unfortunately mid-season. Canola would've definitely been up there if he was racing, something of a regular Ludwig he displayed in Zolder R1, then in the Nurburgring again.
According to Frank De Jong: "Zakspeed Escort was outdated and the new turbo Capri was both late and unreliable - but it was blindingly fast. Winkelhock's new HAT team bit off more than they could chew."
Oh yes. My favourite, and it was fast indeed. To tell you the truth I had low expectations in Zolder and just wanted to get to the finish, debuting for the best team on earth: Don't @ me!!
A good start later and all of a sudden I was third. Juha fell back a bit but quickly got on his feet again and disposed of me while Thim flew like Superman into the distance, his magic atmospheric engine putting the turbos to shame once again in Division 2 . I guess there is some unfortunate truth to the HAT team not being ready to contest for a championship, as Juha did his best to be Winkelhock, but the car was never up to the challenge when it mattered most. Still, a venerable effort from the Belgian.
Down in the trenches and I was gifted a third. Can't complain.
So it came to a showdown to the finish line yesterday for the Supersprint, and what a show it was. With Mampe sponsoring the poster for the race I was sure to give them their money's worth, and their money's worth I'm sure they got in excellent TV time by Jason White our Murray Walker by the graces of the motorsport Gods.
Frank says: "Winkelhock had fallen out with teamchef Hohmann; the chef himself would drive" - So maybe that was why Juha's engine quit! We hounded each other trading pass for pass for all of the first half of the race. I died failing to attempt to repeat history but still, it was Ford's warning of things to come, but I was certain Juha could go the distance. "...And the podium for privateer Karl-Heinz Becker was the icing on the cake."
Martin Lacina was the definition of "do not give up" yesterday. An incredible feat of determination to get knocked back into the trenches, and wait for the opportune moment to push to limit, keeping the engine happy, aided by a little less drag of course too with an excellent pole lap. Furthermore a win in Norisring, making him the short-track high-speed master. A beacon of valour for privateer entries everywhere, rest assured.
For now, Group 5 DRM goes to sleep with a star studded lineup of series to come next year, and there is still a little bit of racing to go yet over X-Mas time. Superb all round and thanks to all for having played a part in it, both drivers and creators.
Until next time, the monsters go back into the workshop, to be unleashed bigger and better than ever.

That was intense. Great racing! Had one misshift and it was enough to break the engine. Congratulations to Lacina for winning and Anders taking the championship. Well deserved.
My best championship so far so I won't complain. However feelt sorry for Czlapinski loosing out to no fault of his own. Thats racing I guess.
Thanks for hosting this championship. Sprint styled racing is just so much fun. Great broadcast as allways. Looking forward to possibly my favorite racing class in 2023; Procars!

Usually disappointment would be the main feeling after retiring, but not this time. Those 30 laps were fantastic. I threw caution out of the window, and if the engine went, so be it. And the season did end in the same way in which it had started: in a cloud of smoke when running at the front. Too bad, it was fun while it lasted.
It's been a great season, even if my powerplant had different ideas about longevity. But when its engine didn't surrender prematurely, the BMW was a blast to drive.
Well done to Anders for taking the championship, and yesterday's opposition for the great scrap we had.

I can only agree with what you guys have already said. Fantastic racing throughout yesterday, no ugly stuff just great scrapping. I wasn't right there on pace, but safely and surely moved towards the front. Since I've had so many mechanical DNF's this season I didn't have much sympathy when bad luck struck others, hehe, but it was me misjudging where Thim went that effectively cost me the win. Martin did a great job reading that situation and really deserved the win.
All in all, quite happy with my driving this season, at least in the DRM. Won once, a couple of other podiums, many points lost from podium positions.

Short race this time It's surprising how long does it take to slow down before corners compared to Div. 2 cars. There was a real example of that at the start No worries Giovanni, I always look on the positive side of any situation- you saved me some worries and sweat for the rest of the race Congratulations for all of the competitors and thanks for great job at commentary booth. Consistent drive proved itself for Anders , but also brought well deserved win to Richard It was a great and surprising season, thank to this mod I learned quite a bit on these cars. Not only they look amazing, but also has amazing top speed performance compared to the F1 of the same era
