Well, being 8 seconds off the pace I guess i will only be a hazard on the track, so I rather not take part just to stroll behind hampering others.

Welp, 2022 ended with a bang. The bad kind. What a mess coming out of turn 2 in the 3rd race, but hard to blame anyone for that really. Lots of racing tonight, even though my old Beemer was a crapwagon, I was nowhere, but getting a great result was not the point tonight. Just one more night of fun at the track with the guys. Thanks for 2022, bring on 2023.

Thank you so much ISO for another year of great joy. I hope to be present at the championships in 2023. I consider ISO the most serious league, always looking to offer the most realistic competitions possible.

I'm not really used to driving FWD cars so it took some work getting the setup and driving somewhat in the ballpark. Struggled with braking in practice till I realized I had too much rear brake bias. Good racing with quite a few in race 2 until I accidentally put the car in neutral and killed the engine.
Had to leave to the liquor store before they closed so I DNS race 3.

Oh, well, now I know whom I have to bill for the mirror...
...other than that, owing to my odd choice of car, I knew it would probably be a pretty tough event, and the first time seriously grabbing a front scratcher in ... 15 years? didn't help either. I struggled hard all week long, lapping around the 2:10 mark and trying to find the right balance between attacking and just letting it gently roll. Other than that, it was quite a joy. Maybe the car lacking some ponies, but well, it was a Hyundai Lantra, not a Hyundai Pony...
Heat 1 went off and I had a pretty decent start. Seems I had that matched pretty well, or the other guys just didn't go in so hard, but I could make up some positions. But where grip was no longer a matter and ponies count, I was soon eaten up. But I the car was surprisingly good on the brakes, and while it lacked everywhere else, there I was good for a surprise or two. And other involved in their own battles allowed me to keep at least at the end of the tail. Unfortunately, in lap 4, Jan overshot and hit me hard. It took an aweful lot of time to get on track again, the car still being surprisingly good, but the other cars some 12 seconds away from me, not much to gain so I rolled home in 17th.
Somewhere between heat 1 and 2, I had an idea and that indeed worked out well. I did a change to front toe, and suddenly, the car transitioned smoothly on corner entry, just the way I like it. A bit pushing now on acceleration, but now I could really aim at the point where I wanted the car to be. Not neccessarily faster, but still better, somehow.
Then, heat 2 went off, and I had one hell of a start, getting quite some positions and ending up in 11th eventually, behind Matthew and Kenny. Who were again faster down the straights than my Korean disaster could manage, but they were quite involved with each other, and the car being now a dream on braking and turn in, I could even join their brawl. And finally, I would just take the inside line approaching 9/10 and pass them both on the brakes. Rock'n'Roll, baby! I guess that grin on my face will last the rest of the week! I could even open a bit of a gap, but some victims of heat 1, making their way forward, showed me the limits, and trying to stay in the Top 10, I was driving my heart out to keep Matt and Kenny behind me. Gabriele passed me going toward 11/12, but lost it on the exit. Me being to stubborn to lose my momentum carried on and tried to sneak past the inside, but was handed the short match. Gabriele hit me hard and I went into the barrier. DNF
Heat 3, and either people had finally learned to match clutch and throttle better, or they were now going seriously at it, I still had a pretty good start, but the cars all around me didn't have bad ones, either. The first paint samples were traded on the way to T1, and on the run to T3, to many guys aimed at the same patch of asphalt at the same time. Cars everywhere, in every direction, I hit the same car twice swerving into my way, the first time just slightly, the second time a bit harder and that damaged my suspension. Right hand corners were now a bit more difficult, the tire was now running significantly hotter than before, and there was a sizeable gap to the cars in front of me. 14th, and not much to do. But as the race went on, I came closer to Matthew and Simon, and in the finishing stages of the heat, I could compete for 12th position. Simon had obviously not much more on his hands, but Matthew had the ponies to keep me at distance. I could outbrake him in 9th lap, but got a slow run of the final corner and he could make some distance to me. I could crawl back again, but the distance was to large to actually challenge him. And then, he had a slow run off of 12, and I could get pretty close again. Four corners and the part of the track, where I thought I had some strenghts over his Bimmer. We braked late for T13, and one moment, I was looking closely at his boot lid, and the other, I was right in his car and flew of track. Yep, I noticed his 120ms ping before. Luckily, I could still wrestle down Simon for 13th, but Matt was of course out of my reach now.
Well, what to make of this season finale? There was more in it, but all together, I went out there to have fun, and as long as it lasted, I had that. There were some really good scraps out there, great fun while they lasted. Not often I get into these close quarter battles, maybe we should do more low DF tin top racing!

I hate FWD cars and I never got along with low-power cars, but as I participated in all the ISO races this year, I couldn't stay out of this one that is completely out of my way of racing. In no time I managed to do laps below 2:09 and, clearly, I would not be competitive in a short race but I went for the fun and companionship, without any pretensions. In the first heat, I started well from 22nd and with the mistakes of the others, I finished in 16th place without making any mistakes. The Peugeot 405 was reliable and fast, in fact, much faster than me. I had two good duels, one with Mr. White (who was flying his Mondeo), impossible to hold and with Jules who juggled the BMW in front of me and I preferred not to run the risk of having an accident with him. In the second heat, I made a decent start in 16th place, losing only 2 positions and trying to escape the friction, but I had a surprise right at the beginning of the third lap when braking the first hairpin, the car simply swerved to the left and crashed hard into the wall, losing the left front wheel. End of race for me. Starting last in the third heat, I just wanted to finish the race, aware of my limitations, even though I had a great car. I started well, gained some positions but... a big accident involving several cars, threw Kenny's Alfa right in front of me and I couldn't avoid full contact with the Alfa's side. That's when I realized how good the Peugeot was, because my steering wheel was half a turn to the right on the straights but I decided to go until the end like that and, ironically, I got my best position, finishing in 15th place.

First off congrats to Little Al for his two wins and John Thim for his win in the 3rd. Had a fun battle with Juha in race 1, a drive through the pack in race 2 as I forgot to adjust the brake cooling on a different setup I tried. Then another fun battle with the leaders and then John Thim who had just a little too much for me. I always enjoy racing these cars, they produce excellent racing. See you all in 2023! EDIT: Forgot to congratulate Anders on his LVT title.
