This one went better than Donington. For starters I didn’t make any unplanned detours through the pitlane.
I qualified in seventh, better than I had anticipated. On the row in front, Gabriel was a bit slower off the line and Giovanni tucked in behind Anders, allowing me to go round the outside.
Little Al was next, but it required a mistake from him at the harbour chicane. He spun and I cut through the chicane to avoid him, before backing off to give back the time I’d gained unrightfully. The next 10 laps or so my mirrors were filled with a red/white M1, until he got it wrong again at the same place.
After that I just completed my laps, Anders was way ahead and the gap behind was comfortable. 4th behind three uncatchable drivers, I’ll take that. Well done CC, Grant and Anders.
Next up is one of my prefered tracks. Really.

Tried shifting into 3rd, got into 1st. Kaboom. Checked, and I did shift into 3rd. Time to clean the pots again...

After reviewing my drive and broadcast once more, it's time put some thoughts about this event. The Q session was much like F1 one with q-grade tires. You can do up to 5-6 laps and the wear will kick in to the point that driver will feel the lack of grip in the most crucial corners. So was both surprised and happy to start at the front row. After some Warmup laps I knew that if my start isn't good one I'll have to drive steady behind cars in front. With such a narrow track and very limited options for passing it stands next to impossible to overtake without risk of damaging the cars. So after 1st lap and St. Devote corner I knew that if my drive and racing line stays clean, Grant will have to work hard to get into good passing opportunity. After 10 laps as expected the rear tires were well overheated and the ice skating begun. It was very important not to let the car to oversteer as it would put rear tires temp above any control. I've never drove so slowly at the Rascasse hairpin as I did in this race. This way I was able to keep t.temp quite low and get some grip at St. Devote without sliding. I messed up somewhere before 20th lap and that reminded me that it's time to go more defensive- rear tires were already deep in their red status. But could one be unhappy winning such a difficult race in a league as good as this one is ? Of course not ! I enjoyed this win very much. It was a great drive for all of our competitors and for great fun to watch the broadcast. See you soon at Norisring
