So, our beloved telemetry service will be shutting down next month, with a message from the creator:
It's a bit of an end of an era here, so I'm just wondering, what did you guys think of it? Did you get much use out of it? Did you like it or do you not care for it? And now, when it goes, what would you think is a suitable replacement? Just curious...

Personally I loved it - it gave the atmosphere in real world motorsport of spying on and comparing to other teams which collectively made everyone push to improve their car setup as much as possible, to find security in their pace being near to the top of the time sheets.

Wow! Indeed, end of an era. I could only think of R2LA as a sort of replacement, as it also works with Automobilista. It logs sessions and has a Live tab to "spy" who is online and their best and last lap times...

That's unfortunate, I often used it for some post race data review and statistics.

Bummer... It was very cool, even if unreliable or incomplete The Driver ratings were a cool idea, but of no use. ( I was # 1 for about a month, for no reason other than attendance? Certainly wasn't due to actual skill ) Most importantly it was a good way to reference whether or not you would be competent before a race and a motivator to prepare. I hope there will be a replacement

Oh no! I used it for comparison with other club members on upcoming races, especially the top speed and sector times were often quite helpful for deciding where to take the setup.
I also launched the game into the ISO server from the liveracers GUI almost 100% of the time because it was a lot easiert than using the in-game server browser or typing the IP in the game menu.

As a fan, I truly enjoyed having this to check-in during the week on who was practicing and their stats before the next race. On race day, I had this screen and YouTube up on the computer at same time to view the various stats of you all and of course my favorites. I even watch it when races aren't broadcasted like yesterday's and could follow who is on the lead lap/DNF's/in pit/and timing.
Disappointed that it is disappearing, but understand. A great tool and hope the next tool is as good if not better!
Thank you LiverRacer! I have used it since 2017.

Just tried R2LA on my PC and unfortunately it cannot seem to output live timing for AMS1, despite having the shared memory plugin installed - makes sense, live timing is only mentioned as a feature for rFactor2. It can host and display information from AMS1 logfiles of previous sessions in a web GUI. It can aggregate logs from multiple sessions, for example it has aggregated the logs from all AVUS sessions I have on my machine in the screenshot below.
It has less functionality than liveracers and cannot display session data live, only after sessions have ended and logs are produced. Imo it's not as good as liveracers for our application, but a lot better than nothing.

It does. In the Brazilian league I help to admin and race they use R2LA as primary source of data, including live timing. They're moving to different sims other than AMS so no R2LA is running AMS for them ATM. But one thing I can recommend is that you run bat file with live timing name in it. I'm doing it to rF2 there and it is quite the same IMO. In the live timing, one thing it definitely lacks off is the track map. It only displays a line just like rFactor 2 with the icons positioned in it relative to where drivers are on track

If it's possible to get the live timing of R2LA to work with AMS1, that would bring it very close to matching liveracers, and since it runs on the same machine as the game server, it's almost free

Richard, I was looking into our R2LA even though it is only running rF2 at the moment, and under the About tab, there is the changelog. I clicked see older versions, something like this, and under 2.058.3 version they added support for live timing for rF1 and AMS. It happens that for it to work, you'll need to replace your shared memory plugin by a custom one made by them. Here is the link: www.mediafire.com/file/hrd7gyz4du7i7gx/rFactorSharedMemoryMapDedi.zipIf you want to check full changelog: 207.244.230.72:8000/default/about

Yeah, I hope it will be enough.
One thing I really love about R2LA is that it calculates consistency with deviation from the fastest lap of the race and also from personal best lap, for each driver. It also shows consumption efficiency for fuel, also per driver, so we can see who is able to save the most on fuel. Also there are nice graphs showing positions per lap, and gap to leader, list of pit stops and time consumed in each one of them...
I'd say if they enhanced a bit more on their live timing tab, I'd have no complaints on them
