DNQ again. I'm getting more and more used to the car but I'm still too slow. Even my PB, a 1:31:1, would not be enough to qualify. To the next round guys.

Happy to somehow qualify the Brabham even though I didn't match the best time I had done in practice. I was extremely conservative at the race start, but even then, my wing got taken off by someone going perpendicular to the track coming out of Tosa. Pitstop left me right in front of the whole field on cold tyres, needing to let 20+ cars by to lap me. I ended up waiting on the grass for a while. Sorry to anyone I may have held up inadvertently. Imola 88 is possibly my least favourite circuit layout of all time, the kerbs, the mickey mouse chicanes... It was one of those kerbs that ended my race a few laps later. Hopefully I get a seat for the next round.

I couldn't find any consistency in the car in qualifying or the race, I've no idea why it was ok in training. Maybe the track temperature was different. I qualified 10th much slower than I had gone before. The race start and the car just understeered on to the grass and I re-joined in last place. Avoided a few first lap crashes and moved up the field a bit. Had a battle with Michael Drechsler, sorry for the rear end hit, I hope that you didn't get any damage (I did). Pitstop about lap 31 and then push to see where I could get to. Around lap 40 the car started to feel better and I could push and start catching the cars in front, I think that was for 7th or 8th but they Ray the leader caught up and I hit a tyre stack trying to get out of his race. Pitstop for repairs and the car was still damaged so I ended up finishing last. Thanks for the broadcast Well done Ray.

Baffled by my early contact w Tim Hille. It's like his rear tire was wider than appeared on screen? Sorry Tim, was having a peak, and went out there to make sure there wouldn't be contact, then I was airboune Ruined the race for both of us, and feel awful Anxious to see replay of what actually happened
Anyway, thanks for event. It's fun to fight the circuit in these cars even if no chance of a good result

Well mixed emotions at the end of that race, our ultra low donwnforce setup payed off in the end battle with Thiim, a few hairy moments , we'll see what the stewards think. Was going to finish in the points, but had to cover the inside from Michael, but he ran up the back of me and put me in the wall. We'll see what we can do at Monaco

Honestly I didn't practice much for this one and it showed. But on the other hand I'm pleased with the progress I did make in the race from 20th, which would've placed me in 5th at the end had the engine stayed with me.
Will put forth more of an effort in Monaco lest Eddie decides to sack me prematurely.

Thanks everyone for the beautiful evening. A bitter race for me, qualy was not as expected, the car was not the same as practice and i struggled to achieve a decent time, behind my best. Conditions were very different and i decided to put mediums before the start of the race. Start was good but the pace was not enough to keep the front runners in sight ,i had a couple of fun moments with Juha and Wilks while battling with John. When the other guys began the pit stop dance around lap 26 the car suddenly came alive and i was able to keep the Tyrrells behind and keep Ray in sight even with worn tyres so i decided to continue. I stopped at lap 40 and with new soft tyres i was chasing the cars in front while in 6th. With position secured and 7 laps to chequered flag i hit the infamous tyre stack at the Acque minerali. Was a stupid mistake from my side, as i missed the chicane two times before, i was afraid to get penalized at the third time and lose points so instead save the car and miss the corner, i destroied the car...
Next time will be better and i hope to find more from the car as it's capable to be extremely competitive.

I'm not very happy about the race, for most of the time, but especially the last lap is one I'd like to forget.
Though, actually, qualy was already troublesome, I knew it would be tough to enter the server on the last moment and try to qualify the car absolutely cold, but I did a few tests before, and usually, with the second run, I was already pretty close to what I could do with the car. But not today! First run, I had some severe stuttering and I ended up with a 1:35. Second got me in the middle 1:29s, third, with a bit adjustments of pressures already had me 8/10s quicker, but I botched it before the chicanes, and just could get a few hundreths out. Fourth got me a 1:29.2. Two days ago, I did a 1:27.5 with the same setup, go figure! 21st position on the grid.
I got pretty well of the line, and could almost make 5 positions, but that gap on the inside got seemed large from the distance, but got smaller and smaller as I came closer, so I had to back up and hand another position back. Some insanity outside Tamburello nontheless handed me a few position, so I was in like ... 15th? Although the balance was a bit off, the car felt pretty heavy-handed, and I couldn't really match my lap times from practice, I slowly progressed in positions and was somewhere around 12th, with Luke and Jules in sight distance and David trying to get past me. Pretty fun battle, the Ferrari was a force up to Tosa, untill it came to braking, there I could repeatedly outbrake him and keep him the rest of the lap behind me, unless I made stupid stuff. Onfe of them was me braking for the final chicane, where either the Williams wasn't the best, or my approach needed a much slower corner entry speed, but it certainly surprised David, and he hit me pretty hard in the rear, but thankfully, everything was still attached. In the end, I ran a bit wide at Piratella, which got him past me, and he would then quickly open a gap.
Relatively early on, I realised the rear tires wore pretty quickly and also playing a bit with compounds wouldn't really do any good, after some 23 to 25 laps, suddenly the car became very loose and I would quickly spin a couple of times, so I decided on a two stop strategy. That extra 20 seconds would be less than the time loss I would have to expect spinning around, thus I decided to pit at the end of lap 19 and 39. In retrospect, I should have stretched the first stint a bit more, as the car just came alive when I was about to pit, I did better in the second stint, also thanks to a slight tire pressure adjustments and pushed my stop a bit back. Not the most ideal situation, just wrestling down some guy, just to start over again. And then, halfways through, I realised I burned more fuel than I did in practice, I was a lap short. So I took about 1.5 seconds out to save some fuel, keeping it even with Jules and Luke ahead of me, but allowing David again to hassle me. Again, I had a nice battle with him, again he would pass me through Tamburello, again I would outbrake him into Tosa. Somewhere along the way, I had two encounters, the first with one of the Thiim brothers in Acque Minerale, whom I could just avoid, and a second one with one of the Lotus I think in Rivazza. David once again got the better of me, and I soon went to the pits for my seconds stop.
Meanwhile a lap down, fuel was no longer a concern and I did my best to go after the cars ahead of me, Luke, John and David. David was a bit too quick, but I could slowly nibble some time off. Richard lapping me wasn't very helpful, because he wasn't going that much quicker than me, but especially was he slow where my car had its strenghts, I just involuntarily open a gap to run in my own rhythm again. The further the laps dimished, the smaller got the gap to the cars in front, and then a car dropped out here, and another had to pit there, and suddenly, with three laps to go, I was in 8th, and less than 10 seconds short of Luke. Another lap less, and suddenly, there was a yellow in Tamburello, and I was in 7th, thanks to Richards engine expiring. But also, Niklas was gaining on me, too, but this could be a chance on a point. Last lap, Tamurello, Tosa, and at that rate, that should work out. He took a defensive line past Tosa, and I was right behind him after Tosa, not the best spot for braking into Piratella, but braking and turning in worked out...
...but then, I was completely caught by surprise about my extra speed and hit the Footwork, which pushed him off track and apparently into the barrier. I have to apologize for that one to Luke, that one goes completely on my head! I already filed a protest against myself, because that is certainly not the way I want to race. Thus, whatever the final result may be, I can't be happy with the finish.

Two huge mistakes. Three, actually.
First - I thought it would be a good idea to significantly increase downforce on Luke's setup. It wasn't. 22/6 was way too much. Second - I'm old enough to know that last minute setup changes are ALWAYS a bad idea. For some unknown reason, I picked medium tyres for the race. I couldn't even keep them in operating temperature. There was almost no tyre wear, but they simply didn't work. I went to pits for softs halfway through the race and suddenly went almost 1,5s a lap faster. This stupid excercise cost me at least 50 seconds at the end of the race Third - I thought I was in no man's land towards the end of the race. I lost concentration in Tosa, downshifted to 1st and spun. But then I realized that Brian Janik was closing the gap at alarming rate. I pushed like crazy for the last 10 laps, did one PB after another, but it wasn't enough. Brian simply went by before we reached Tosa for the last time. I won't lie, it was a bitter pill to swallow.
How to sum it up? It wasn't all bad at all. FA12 feels and drives way better than the previous chassis. I did a decent job behind the wheel (except for that spin) and those last 10 laps were very intense. I just need to shut up and drive whatever setup Luke brings.
Talking about Luke - wow. Just wow. That was super impressive. He's able to unlock the full potential of the car and fight like a lion. Hats off

With no time to train during the weekdays, I did a few laps with the car and thanks to Juha, I had a decent setup to qualify the car. For the race, I practically used the GP Brazil setup that I used, very different from Juha's setup. I made a very measured and calm start, as I was aware of my pace and my limitations (I have a dislocated right shoulder). Everything was going well until Gabriele left the track at Tosa and I took the opposite side to him and just when I thought I had escaped the accident, someone hit me in the back, throwing my car against the protections on the right side of the track. I dragged myself to the pit to do the repairs (more than 6 minutes wasted) and returned to the track with the car not very well until another car hit me again in the back when I was turning around and I ended up with a crooked steering wheel. until the end of the race. I suffered an intense chase from Gabriele with the AGS, he was quickly closing the gap and I resisted as long as I could, as fatigue took over me. I managed an undercut when changing tires but it wasn't enough to contain Gabriele. My race came down to this, as Robin's next car at Modena was one lap ahead and I was losing a lot of time to let the faster cars get a lap advantage.

Couldn't match my practice times in official qualifying, but at least I was safely on the grid, P19.
I was very careful in the first lap, maybe too careful as I lost one spot despite several cars dropping out in front. Then Michael and I had a fun little scrap for a few laps. I was a bit quicker over the whole lap, I think. Michael had big handling trouble, seemed he couldn't turn in properly to Tosa and had problems on change of direction in the chicanes, resulting in low exit speed. But the Williams was just too powerful and quick on the straights. Michael eventually pulled away, apparently getting used to the handling. Due to a few retirements I was running P13 after 20 laps. Then had a spin, losing 10 seconds. Then I pitted, putting on another set of soft tyres.
Three laps into the next stint and I missed the upshift from second to third gear before Rivazza 2. When the gear finally engaged, it did so in the middle of the corner which put me into another spin and flat spotted the new set of tyres. Well done.
Carried on in no man's land for another 25 laps. Then I noticed the gap to the Luke/John battle came down rapidly. Everything from P6 to P11 seemed to be converging in the last two laps, David dropped out, I couldn't keep track of the events. Half way through the last lap Michael binned Luke and all of a sudden I was just half a second from a point. But again, the Williams was too quick on the run down to Rivazza and the best days of my rear tyres had long passed, too. So P7 at the finish line, a few car lengths behind Michael.
Not a bad result, but because of my two spins it feels like a lost opportunity to score. Again, after Phoenix.
