Dam that hurts,
Was feeling good with pace, Wilks was immense on race pace so had to really stay focused.
Not sure what happened at the chicane there, but I think I changed lanes under braking un intentionally so thought only fair to let you through. Sorry about a few taps during our race.
Engine blew for the first time this season and I blame my gearing, I really ran it risky here

Congrats John on that great 6th place. I had good pace but overrevved the engine too many times. Car was good though so could've finished 5th or 6th.
Gutted for Vadim though.

You know that feeling, when you didn't really expect much, but are dissappointed afterwards, nontheless? That's where I'm right now. The whole week, I was sure I'm gonna shred my engine, but when it finally happened after 61 laps, the remaining feeling is just ... emptiness. That darn thing could have held up for another 9 laps...
...well, lets start with the beginning. That seat in the Arrows came a bit unexpected, and there are certainly better places to learning a car than Monaco, but after all that tough luck I had lately, I was willing to accept that challenge. And when I learned, its Thierry Boutsen's car, that was an even better motivation. He scored the first two victories for Renault when they returned to F1 as an engine supplier (we were a Renault family back then!), and any guy with a black helmet has my respect anyways On the other hand, the last time I raced a high downforce car at Monaco, that was 15 years ago in a sim called EA's F1 Challenge, kind of the predecessor of rF. So I had to learn the car and the track. Ouff! I got the car on saturday, by monday, I had an idea where to go, by tuesday I had a decent balance in the car, but still terribly slow. On wednesday, something clicked and I could almost shave five seconds of my best. I realised that medium tires gave me a better feedback and balance and allowed me to point the car more precisely where I wanted it to be. Thursday, I realised the car was geared fine for the pace I was going, but there was potential left, as the car was geared to short when it was getting lighter. Friday, I realised that gearing the car longer threw the balance out of the window. Back to the drawing board. Saturday I spent with a long test, but I was barely getting into the 1:36s. Juha shared a setup, but that didn't really do it for me, seems my lines around here are off. I wanted to test a thing or two before Q tonight, but got held up at work and returned home at 18.00. Pizza in the oven, booting the 'puter, hop on the server, everything laggy and choppy, WTF? Straight CTD after trying to enter the track for the second time, please not!. Did work when the quali began, phew! Down with the pizza, out there, and the first attempt to set a time went straight into the wall. A few clicks here and there, and the car straightened up, for quite a while, David and me had back to back positions on the grid, but then he could squeeze out almost another three seconds, while I was still annoyed about that half second I lost on my personal best. But I made the cut and was in the field, and the last row was maybe not even the worst thing around here. Did I mention I didn't even attempt to use the qualifying car? I tested it yesterday and couldn't get it under 1:37. Yeah, I was five seconds faster in the race car with supersofts...
...in warmup, I guessimated what to change on my setup, longer gearing, lower, some damper and kinematic tweaks, and it felt nice. I felt ready, even though I'd wished for another day or two for sorting the car out.
So, the lights turned green, and I didn't really rush of the line, but the guys in front of me were even more cautious, so I could gain three positions without taking much risks. St. Devote was a pretty disciplined matter, but then there was a pile-up into Loews, I could avoid running into Kayo, but behind me, someone could not and pushed me into his car. Barnacles! But the front wing was still attached, just a dent in the right rear suspension, but it didn't seem to affect the handling, so I soldiered on, just had to give up all the positions gained. So I was second to last again, and when Simon had to quit, I was finally last car running. I even came further than the three laps I hoped for last sunday, and then one more, and then another and before I knew it, it was a dozen laps, that was when I realised I sat a bit in an awkward position, my bum started to hurt pretty badly. But this is Monaco, you just can't take a hand of the wheel to readjust your seating position. Ouch! Another dozen of laps, and my eyesight was getting blurred. I tend to have dry eyes, and with little opportunity to have a blink around here, that soon hurt, too, and got me in one or two dangerous situation when I got passed by two cars at once, but couldn't make out the second car in the mirror.
For a while I had the hope to close the gap to Bruno, but traffic often got me out of the rhythm, and I changed tires to late, so he could steadily open up the gap. So I drove around and gained position after position, as quite a few cars got sidelined. At lap 57 I had a short brain fade and missed out on a downshift going into the chicane, bumped the curb and went into the wall. I limped back to the pits to have the car repaired, sat idle for five minutes (a welcome break for my eyes and my bum!), and rejoined the race. Bruno must have made something similar, because suddenly, he was no longer four, but only one lap ahead of me! Dang it. I decided to carry it home, but by the time, my engine was already tapped. I ran a bit higher boost than before, because fuel use was way lower than expected, due to the longer gearing, but unfortunately, sixth was still to short when the car got lighter. Furthermore, accelerating in first and second gear ofthen had the engine run to far into the red than was probably good long term, and I missed a couple of upshifts and banged the engine completely into the limiter, something that happens more often to me when running higher boots levels. So when I suddenly lost power onto start/finish, it wasn't unexpected, but nontheless it was a dissappointment.
Driving the Arrows around this sacred place was great fun while it lasted, though! It doesn't even hurt that my laptimes weren't overly competitive. Now I've got unfinished business, so count me in for the next opportunity!

Well, I could do my best at Qualify and i achieved the 18th at the Grid, and I had a safe pace in Race, keeping the oil and water temps under 100 degrees, and I was ready to finish in 8th place, but my Motori (not quite) Moderni threw its pistons away at Mediterran Sea and end my race remaining just 10 laps...
But I will have best oportunities!

4 races, 4 points finishes. I just need to get a win and a 5th now to complete the set.
Qualifying went above expectations. I set a PB which was good for 9th, and 7th wasn't too far away. I know Prost took this car to pole, but I'm not Prost.
My car's strength was in the race anyway. Monaco is tiring, so I made sure my seat position was more comfortable after being hampered by it in the previous races and took up enough water throughout to avoid losing concentration halfway through. All my previous attempts at racing at Monaco ended up with me hitting a wall of some sorts, my preferred target being the one exiting the tunnel.
My start was better than that of the drivers alongside and in front, but I backed out of silly movements. Long race, bad time.
After Tim Hille's retirement I went up to 8th, behind the Miller/Coxon/Jaques train. I could hold on to them, but making a move was just beyond my possibilities. I then hesitated about stopping twice to achieve and undercut. My tyres were fine though, so I decided a 1-stop would do.
Feeling stuck behind Coxon, I went for an early stop on lap 32. The gap with the Brian Janik behind me was big enough. As soon as I stopped I realised McLaren's HR department had hired Coxon's Imola pit crew. After a whopping 25 seconds during which they changed 4 tyres, cleaned my mirrors, served me a three course lunch and organised a meet & greet with my fanclub, I finally got moving again, having lost all the benefit of my cunning plan.
I was still ahead of Brian though. I set out to make the most of my new tyres and closed in on Coxon. The Ferrari crew was 10 seconds faster than mine and after Richard's stop I was about 6 seconds behind him. If only it wasn't for that botched stop...
So I had to overtake Richard on track. At Monaco. What a brilliant prospect. On lap 49 I made it through into 6th. The final point was mine.
Lap 50 proved to be very beneficial to me due to others' misfortune. On the same lap, Grant went out and Dave Miller's Honda engine decided it no longer wanted to power its driver's dreams. I was 4th. On lap 52, Vadim had his disco inferno and I got handed 3rd place.
Next target: Jaques. I knew from the earlier stages of the race I could match his pace without upping the rhythm. I just kept doing the same laps, waiting for either his BMW engine to also call it quits or hoping my Porsche would prove to need less fuel.
In the final laps, I got close enough to make an impression. 3rd was nice, 2nd was better. I got closer. I got even closer. And David spun. Second place then.
All that was left was complete lap 78, cruise home and don't blow the engine. I collected second place with a lot of fuel to spare. I probably overfuelled, but I got second and I couldn't have done any better so I'm happy with it.
Well done to Richard Wilks on winning and to everybody else who finished. The next race is on home ground. Needless to say I'm looking forward to the track of which I know every inch.

I had in mind just to be able to finish the race. I knew it would be very tiring and that my concentration would be put to the test. Right on the first lap, in the pileup at Loews, Kayo hit the back of my car hard and lost the front wing and my car was very strange, leaving a lot of rear. Okay, I could continue like that, I just had to be more careful and not force it around corners. Everything was going well, normal pitstop without problems, I was discounting the difference that Pagiola had and it was already in 7 seconds, even with cramps in the fingers of both feet, I struggled to keep my concentration, so on lap 60, my brain went blank and I lost the car, hitting the guardrail hard and limping to the pit with great care. Sure, 485 seconds of repairs but I never give up! I have benefited from Pagiola and Drechsler engine crashes.

First things first: Really good broadcast. Thanks for providing a platform for all our racing phantasies. Thank you guys. Thank you for the platform and the work that goes in. Also thanks to all the backmarkers. Everything went fine during the race. About the prep: 1600 km / 1000 miles in the Tyrell 015 for Monaco. Getting to know the car. It was not easy, but I got all out of the car that was possible. I am so dissapointed - I can´t even curse. Allthough - Juha gets a bag of dicks (TS conversation). I made a promise to Grant that we would make the first row on sunday. Sorry - I nearly made it. My golden boy made POLE, thats why you are a scientist . I was on 3.00 nearly all of the race - medium // hard. Team Tyrell wanted me to finish P2 so the gave me an 11 second pitstop. Missed a gear - Wilks was faster ofc and took P2. Grant blew up - shit - ...was running P2 after that.....and..................DISCO while my Internet was up and fine. I will call my ISP Monday, but, that is unacceptable. I can deal with everything, but not that. I got things coming up in real life - thats why I quit DRM. Lets hope I can post some suprises for some ppl. during the season in F1. Thanks to Grant for pushing me on Friday and Saturday, much love ;D. Also much love to Richard Coxon - I went Michael Jordan on you and took it personal .
Also Edit;
Great Job Wilks - You had the car and the nerves!!! Good job! Also cool - Benetton worked for the Championship! Also also - Ferrari was a dirtbag on this track plus other circumstances - Good Job also

Well i will just say that after the diabolical pace in the beginning, it was almost anti climatic to have to cruise in the end, but i was counting the laps and still sweating. Bad luck for Vadim and Grant, both doing a great job. And i was never good at Monaco, so go figure! Good job indeed, the backmarkers were great in this race, and congratulations to all the finishers of this endurance exercise! Hope to see you all soon!

Also want to second that what Richard said, backmarkers did a great job on what is probably the hardest track to navigate round. Very much appreciated! Me Richard and Vadim had a few scares second to last corner but these things happen and was good to see no one was damaged

Where to start. The beginning i guess. Qualifying was a surprise. Didn't think i would be that far up, but i'm not complaining. For a change i got a good start in the race, but i had nowhere to go so could only gain 1 spot, but then reality kicked in and i soon morphed into Jarno Trulli. A small mistake and Anders was by, then another small mistake and Miller was gone. Same with Jaques (Though he then made one so i was back in front) Had some fun defending, i'm sure it wasn't fun for the guys behind, I've been in there position, but they drove well and were very clean. Sorry if i caused you headaches. As soon as the engines started blowing i knew i had to back off and save mine (Jerez Flashbacks) so i lost a load of time to the guys in front but i could maintain the gap to Gab DP. So pleased to finally start my season and get some points. Hopefully i can kick on from here. Sorry for Anders who had much better pace than me and could of got a podium easily with the retirements. Congrats to all finishers, to the podium (Big kisses for Wilks!) and thanks to everyone who turned up. Our 4th full grid of the year and i hope it continues. See you all at Spa where Ferrari have some new turbos

They will be a big firework in the mirrors of the Benetton BMWs, it's a tactic to distract them and see if they crash

I qualified 14th I was hoping for a little bit better but that's all that I had. I don't know how Vadim made it to 3rd but well done Vad. A steady start to the race as made up a couple of places and then lost a coupe of places, I didn't see the 1st lap hairpin pileup. It felt like I was always running right behind someones exhaust for the first 20 to 30 laps. That's very tiring. I ran B tyres to start with and made my pitstop later than most, after the pitstop I was behind John Thim by about 20 seconds and could only close the gap a bit therefore I just turned the boost down and short shifted to look after the engine. Then after a few retirements I was in 7th place hoping that someone else would have problems and that I could grab a point for 6th but that didn't happen and I lost concentration and hit the barriers damaging the car that required a pitstop. I was still having that pitstop when the race finished . Congratulations to Richard Wilks . A good second for Juha and third for Jaques. Thanks for the broadcast.

Cracking race! My very big thanks to Jules and Kayo for their vital setup help and inputs. Sad you both retired, Jules got me thinking about managing when he blew the engine right in front of me. Nonetheless I was nowhere in qualy (19th). So I decided to do a John Watson and focus on my race pace and it luckely payed of.
Car was great! Managed to avoid 3 spins right infront of me during the race and som great close racing in the midpack. Jundt was doing one hell of a job doing no pitstops? Sadly disco right in front of me whilest we where having a great scrap. My heart stopped... and thought it was me at first.
Don't think you cant do it without luck in this car (other DNFs) However, goal of season reached: To score a point.
Congrats to everyone who survived and great coverage as usual even going trough my interior. Now that's insight. :-)

Now that I finished watching yesterday's broadcast of the race, I blame the commentators for my blown engine. Curse and such shyte. Full picture of my car, talking about my chances of fetching Bruno, and then suddenly smoke? Go figure! :-p
Did enjoy the show nontheless, some great racing out there one isn't aware of when minding yer own stuff, and those old commercials always crack me up. Boy, do I look good... :-D

Jundt was doing one hell of a job doing no pitstops? Sadly disco right in front of me whilest we where having a great scrap. My heart stopped... and thought it was me at first. What? No, I had stopped somewhere after the half-way point, some laps ahead of you. I had a decent 9s pitstop, you must have suffered a bigger random time stop as instead of like over 10s behind, I was over 8s ahead! I still dunno why I had a disco, never lost connection to TS and heard everyone else, so also thought it had been you or the server having issues. Have to say, the change to a DD wheel and HE Sprints has made me slower with demanding cars like these turbo beasts, where you have to lift&shift quickly. The magnetic paddles tire me out and I kept missing upshifts, so I was worried I might blow the engine or get overtaken/plowed into Would have also liked to see the end of our battle as I had been driving along/chasing behind for those 50 laps until that point. I was thinking you might've gotten me still due to my shift issues, you had better tyres and quickly grew closer when I had to move over as a lapped car. That Haas is a better handling car than the Arrows, especially at Monaco. Have to give a shoutout to my temporary teammate Michael here(better late than never), helping me out a lot

My pleasure! Even though the setup had its flaws - geared way to short, but then, you regulars have a few races headstart. I learned a lot nontheless I'll use at Spa, even though that'll be a completely different challenge!
