So, I have just had this issue pop up today out of nowhere. Whenever I try to launch AMS it sends me to the config screen with the SweetFX, Language, and Audio options blanked out. Whenever I try to select any of them, there is nothing to click. I have already tried reinstalling AMS and it still persists. I don't have any ideas on what I could do to troubleshoot so any help would be much appreciated.

Try launching the game through your install folders and not steam. Also try in admin mode.

Did you have a Windows update recently?

Did you have a Windows update recently? Not that I can remember. I'm running Windows 7.

Graphics card driver update?
One thing that can work, go to my documents and make a backup of your player profile. Then delete it and try launching the game again.

I have also completely deleted my player profile and that still didn't work.

Try verifying the files on steam. It seems to me something got corrupted or deleted.

There is another player profile inside the game folder, in "userdata". Do also a backup and delete it.

Now, I don't know if this is the case or not but it seems like the config file or application doesn't recognize the path for the SweetFX, Language, and Audio options. This may be totally useless but could someone upload their config file so I could compare it against what I have currently? Thanks for all the ideas so far everyone.

Maybe try deleting it and asking Steam to repair your install.
Here is mine:

Thanks again for everyone's attempt to help fix this. I ended up going full nuclear and reinstalled Windows and now it works. Now just to reinstall all the mods

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I've got some other "Config" issues that have confused me before and I wanted to solve them for racing/testing the new mods for this year. Upon creating a new user file after a re-install, my game doesn't create it within the install but on the One Drive I have. I changed the Config file to have the paths within the main install, but it doesn't abide by it Do I have no choice? I guess I might just link the one drive userdata folder onto my desktop to easily change things, but I think it's annoying that some games(Raceroom seems to do it as well, rFactor doesn't) see my One Drive as the place to install. Someone says starting AMS via Steam or through the exe in the main folder creates some differences as well, not sure about that one.

Launching AMS through admin mode will make it read any plr files in the user data folder where the game is installed. If you start normally the game reads the plr file from my documents folder.

Alright, but I think it will still ignore it for replays and setups? I'll have to try(and set the game to be run as admin EVERY time), but if it ends up ignoring my wishes(and my config file that includes the paths I want it to save files to), it's probably not gonna work how I'd like it

Just to complete this, I think I got it fixed. When you go under properties for the AMS exe, tick "run as admin". I think I still always have to confirm every time I start up, but at least now the user file documents stay within the game and won't wander off to the One Drive or similar. I will have to try that with Raceroom as well once I use it again
