It was a solid race for me, managed to stay out of trouble and kept clear of the walls. I could have probably pushed a little harder as the reliability was better than anticipated. Nonetheless, I’m pleased to have completed the 500.
Congratulations Anders for the win, superb drive!
And thank you for commenting the race, Jonatan.

I was very pleased of my pace at the begining where i was able to bite through the field from 19th place on start to 10th and keep the same pace as the fastest group in front. I was even 6th after first pitstop and tried to keep calculated consumption on average level. I was very happy of my setup where i was very fast in corners but when i hitted couple times a wall the car started to be worse and worse. There was almost impossible to maintain the proper direction especially in situations where it was necessary to plan the pitstops. Finally i wrongly decided to repair the car body in pits where i lost 70s two times (the second repairement wasn't planned) but the car was still very tricky to drive so it was completelly useless. Anyway im very happy i bring this scrap into finish. Thank you all who organize this as well as Jonatan in broadcast studio.

A tough race, absolutely ballsed up my strategy and was too cautious with fuel. Pleased to get a Penske 1-2 congratulations to Anders, you was untouchable.
Thanks to everyone who attended the month of May, I hope some of the new guys can become regulars as you all drove well.
Loved the updated cars, loved the track. Thanks to all those involved.
Thanks to Jonatan for the broadcast.

First of all thanks for the race and for broadcast, both yesterday and for the time trials. The organization of the event was impeccable.
It was my first oval race since some sprint races in Live for Speed some 10-12 years ago. So I was a bit surprised to be 4th on the grid especially because I had a very careful first lap which cost some time. Knew the race would be another thing though. I chose to run relatively low boost for the first stint, didn't want to get involved in too much fighting and also to avoid the crowded pit lane around lap 29-30. But then, well, I did not expect to lose quite that many places in the first stint. Was down to 16th before the stops. But it was useless to change strategy now, so I just sticked to the plan and did two more long stints, turning mostly clean laps and being careful in traffic.
The handling of the car was good and I made up some spots due to attrition. After the 4th stop I realized I had probably more fuel left than I could ever use, so turned the engine up. Couldn't run more than setting 7 though because of overheating. There was a critical moment at the last stop when Ray left his pit stall just when I was trying to enter mine, unlucky timing for me. Was running 5th then, being a little bit quicker than Richard ahead but not enough to catch up. Finished the race with 16L in the tank but if anything maybe P4 would have been possible, not more. Next time I shall try to stay with the leading pack from the beginning.
Anyway, happy to have finished without any incidents, some good points for LVT too. It was great fun, congratulations to everybody who accepted this challenge, and especially podium finishers of course.

First experience for me in oval racing and i'm happy to have completed such a challenging race. I was surprised how fast was the front pack and i suspect that i should've trimmed down wings to minimum to increase fuel efficiency but i found difficult to handle the car so i choosed to stick with qualy setup as i didn't have any particular ambitions for the race except to finish and the setup was very reliable albeit a little bit slow on the straight line.
The race was pretty lonely in 10th, same spot i started, watching for fuel and for the best possible strategy. Hairy moment with Alberto's mclaren on lap 12, turn 3, i think was a risky move to dive inside the corner and i was surprised, no way to avoid the slight collision and slight suspension damage for me but fortunately no major impact for the field behind, could have been much worse...
During the last stop i went a bit longer and the light impact with the pit stall wall triggered the auto repair. I lost 25 second and the 9th position i had achieved at the moment. For the last 20 laps i turned the boost nearly all the way up to try to catch Jacob but with no results, so 11th in the end.
I must to be honest that at the beginning i tought that oval racing was easier compared to other series and "boring" but was totally the opposite. The car setup process is extremely challenging, driving always on the edge to found the best line and best speed and 4 corners that are geometrically identical but so different in reality... wow, was an intense experience and i am grateful to ISO crew for such an opportunity.
Big congrats to Anders and the podium od course, i'll try to watch the broadcast in the coming days ( thanks Jonathan).
See you next time!

To ammend my report from last night, a bad surprise during the first stop was in for me, when contrary to the warmup, my pit stall was no longer at the end of the pit lane, but at the beginning (where I initially expected it to be to be) and blasted almost full throttle past it. Thank goodness I had 4 1/2 litres left, so I could make it round again, but that cost me about half a lap

As always, the ISO Indy 500 brings out the best in us! The driving standards are getting better with each year, it is so nice to be able to race like we do and feel confident that the guy next to you isn't about to pull out an idiot card. Despite being in traffic for most of this year's race, I didn't see any dumb manouvre all race.
And well, I think this race brought out the best of me, too. I wasn't as well prepared as in past editions, qualifying showed that, but I was confident that my race pace would be pretty good. I got the strategy figured out quite clear before me, I would try to stretch out the earlier stints, so I could continue to overcut the opposition later on in the race. As it happened, in the second half of the race I was overcutting Riddall and Burchfield by 3 or 4 laps, which gained me 4-5 seconds on each pit stop. Tyre wear was something I had an eye on, I ran the entire race without ever changing the left front! That saved me a lot of time too.
The main time loss was my starting position. I had trouble cutting through traffic in the first stint, but my fuel numbers looked good after 25 laps or so, I could up the boost and blow past Jason, Jereb, and the Wattmans to gain some clean air. I set my sights on a top 10, which would be difficult without some attrition. The cars I set my sights on, I got ahead of them all, and while 9th place doesn't sound like much, I am just as happy with my effort on race day this time as last year.
Already look forward to the next edition!

Thank you to all who organised! Always an experience taking part! Ovals are and will never be my forte but recently I have found a new enjoyment from them, finished 13th and pretty pleased with that still Anders - from what I saw you were untouchable. Hats off to you! Richard and Juha well done too, and thanks for the pointers Richard they hugely helped! Thanks guys and Jonatan for broadcast see you at my home this weekend at Brands

At that moment it was funny and horrible at the same time. When i fighted with the unbalanced car in second half i lost for a while control over my crapwagon and when i tamed this wild horse i was almost in pit entry so there was no chance to return back to frontstretch so i had to run almost full speed through pits. Fortunatelly there was nobody at the moment. That was so hectic situation that i cannot say how i joined the racetrack. Probably i broke the rule and didn't joined track on backstretch. Hope i didn't cause any troubles for anybody.

Not the most spectacular of races from me, but I did make it to the finish, which is a marked improvement over my last two Indy 500s. The car was reasonably quick, but starting so far back, I found myself constantly playing catch up. Being stuck behind David Wattman for 10 to 15 laps lost me probably half a minute or more; I just couldn't manage to overcome his boost on the main straights. Later on, mental lapses crept in (leaving repairs on, running out of fuel late), but my main priority was to prove to myself that I could go the distance. Next year, I will have that confidence to build on. Thank you to all the competitors, I think this was one of the best 500 fields we have assembled. Congrats to Anders on a well-deserved win. My thanks to Juha, Alberto, David Sabre, Wilks and Lacina for their fantastic work behind the scenes. Also, many thanks to August for his help with setups.
And of course, many thanks to Jonatan for broadcasting our biggest race of the year!

To my knowledge, this is my first actual finish in any of the ISO events thaat I've entered. I mostly started to conserve fuel around half distance, as I didn't think I'd be able to fit under the total allowed fuel of 1060L! Either way, I made it to the end, which is what mattered most to me. Hopefully I'll find some time to return to another event here!

For the record, since Jonatan was logically puzzled in the broadcast at my strange DNF, when I exited the pits I accidentally pulled out the pedals USB cable when releasing the clutch, which had gotten tangled around. Car lost the definition of controls and swerved left on full gas, which topped up my annoyment at a bad evening. Well, what starts wrong, usually ends the same way ...

Having crashed out of the last three Indies, my only aim was to finish the race without hitting something else. With that goal in mind, I requested an Eagle. A well driven McLaren would probably be faster, but I didn't expect to keep that out of the wall for 200 consecutive laps.
I made up ground at the start and hovered around the top 5. When the first stops came around, I even found myself in the lead, albeit very briefly. Everything went according to plan. Then my driving got a bit sloppy. I lost focus and a few seconds along the way before reasserting myself. However, I avoided my usual accident and kept motoring along.
As the race progressed, I integrated the top 3, the only Eagle in a batch of McLarens. I wasn't expecting to improve on that but Richard's fuel saving allowed me to snatch second and hold onto it until the very last lap. By then I was low on fuel, and he had too much, so with two turns to go I found myself demoted to third. I didn't feel I lost second place there, I lost it much earlier in the race.
Finally I achieved my first podium at Indy, beaten by two very capable drivers who deserved to finish ahead of me. I'm happy I managed to bring the car home in one piece. Well done to everyone who finished, and thanks to Alberto for helping me with the setup.
