I'm going to do a clarification, just because I do not want the discussion to continue here (Affected drivers can PM the series admin for any question) and because I want everyone to understand how we gauge the situations:
The way Pascal defended did of course not merit a race ban. However, it did merit a normal warning, because there were several repeated changes in lane to block, even when the other car had moved and was already front-wheel-to-rear-wheel. That is not defending, that is squeezing someone, which is different. To defend you must move before the other car is staggered to you. You block by placing yourself in front of the overtaking car, not by pushing him sideways, hope you understand the difference. The only instance where you can "squeeze" someone is when going into a corner and following the racing line. You only have to abandon the racing line (Which obviously closes to the apex) and allow the pass when the other car has been able to get past 1/2 of your own car already. If not, it is your right to slam the door.
The criteria is the same for everybody, Richard Coxon got a warning for his defence at Monaco.
The problem for Pascal is that he had a suspended one race ban, and that has to be served if any other penalty is applied during the probation period.
